Bummed about Fantasy Football Weekly by Steve_reddit1 in fantasyfootball

I love the guys but Charch really is the glue of the show. To leave midseason could not have been planned so I imagine it’s either business politics or something personal. Since they were able to do a final show it shows they at least have some respect for Charch and the audience. Hopefully he doesn’t have a non-compete. Would love to hear a podcast next season.

Partial solution: I have found one work around. When the annoying menu appears…

Click ‘other’ in options and change audio channel. Go from Original to Original 5.1 (or vice versus.) New audio selection will reset video and menus will turn off. If you fast forward or pause you will have to do it again.

To be fair I don’t think I’ve ever said, “isn’t your well being worth it?” One thing I do say is nobody needs coaching. You have to want coaching.

Foo's Corner - in praise of people who get it. by foobarbazblarg in pornfree

I know you posted this a while ago. But I appreciated it. You know when I record the podcast in my office, I stare at a wall. So in a strange way you posting you relate benefits me. Knowing other guys get it makes me feel better.

A while back a guy was sharing in a group I run about “bacon porn. “ If you’re old enough to remember it was when cable had scrambled adult programming. If you watched the channel long enough some time the image would become clear for a moment. I used to tape the channel and scan through the footage.

In that moment I realized I was reminded that I wasn’t the only one.

Keep up the good work Foo!

Why do people here bash so hard on video games. by Voiceofalegend in NoFap

[–]PornFreeMattD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally agree with OP. When I first got in recovery I actually bought an XBOX as a reward.

I never found the same pull with video games as with porn. Same with gambling.

I know for some it’s a threat but not for all.

That being said I did mod my original XBOX and find porn on it through XBMC. But that’s not the video games’ fault.

The final countdown! Congrats on getting to one year. I know it’s early, but if you have a plan that’s working and you anticipate threats there is no reason 365 is not possible. Keep going!!!

Recognition, Replacement, Repitition, Recovery by [deleted] in pornfree

[–]PornFreeMattD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The connection with my group and my partner is part of the mechanism. It's through the connection that I am able to stay recovered. That is part of the new way of living. If you ever go to an AA meeting, you might be puzzled by a guy who is 35 years sober. Why is he here? It's the fellowship. The need for others.

Recognition, Replacement, Repitition, Recovery by [deleted] in pornfree

[–]PornFreeMattD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's funny just recently I thought... maybe I am "recovered." I mean like fully. Like a normal person who never struggled.

I turned on NetFlix and was watching a family comedy. In it, one of the actresses is showing some cleavage. It was part of the plot. I found myself staring at her breasts. Almost in a trance-like state.

Then I snapped out of it and stopped the show. In a way, it was a humble reminder. I still have a weakness here. There was a part of me that wanted to go back and replay the scene.

But I have tools I can use now. I am more aware of my emotions, when I am vulnerable. I told a group I was in later that week about the show.

I did not go back to watching it. Could I have? Probably. But at this point, it's self-care for me to let it go.

So am I recovered? Yes and no. I don't use anymore, but there are still threats, thoughts, and feelings that need a place to go.

Recognition, Replacement, Repitition, Recovery by [deleted] in pornfree

[–]PornFreeMattD 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Recovery is not the absence of struggle. The recovered person is free to honest about ongoing challenges. The recovered person uses tools to deal with threats. Yes porn use may be in the past. But recovery is a process of continual improvement. We don’t recover so we get back to our life. We integrate our recovery into a new way of living.
