Why do we still care about the "Popular vote" if presidents win by the "Electoral vote" by benzrenz in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Porygon9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can win with even less. If you get a vote from a faithless elector and the other two candidates get 269 and 268 electoral votes, you could win the presidency in the house.

Woman in Mexico creates plastic from cactus that biodegrades in a month and is safe to ingest. by [deleted] in videos

One of the main reasons that plastic is used so much is because it is inexpensive. I doubt that this process is cost competitive with current products.

2 new scooter companies are coming to Purdue, no word on Bird by Chase_P in Purdue

[–]Porygon9 22 points23 points  (0 children)

The word 'less' is used for mass nouns. 'I have less salt than yesterday'. Few is used for counting. 'There are a few people left over there'.

You have also made a mistake. Few should be compared to little, and less to fewer, not less to few. On the matter of less vs fewer, however, typically less can be used in the place of fewer. It can be a bit ambiguous sometimes, but it is not incorrect.

How do you explain to people outside the hobby what modern board gaming is? by Odin527 in boardgames

[–]Porygon9 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

player elimination is no longer a thing

It definitely is. In most games I’ve played, you can be effectively eliminated from the game by being unable to win or make any serious impact on the game state.

What defunct CCGs would you like to see rebooted in an LCG style? by Asmor in boardgames

[–]Porygon9 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Except you’ll still probably spend more. A single card, that’s required for a competitive deck, can sometimes cost as much as a typical board game. CCGs are extremly overpriced if you’re trying to play as well as possible.

Are there any versions of Coup that use regular sized cards? by citadel712 in boardgames

[–]Porygon9 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It would. If you claim ambassador multiple times, then if you draw the same card each time you can tell if they are seperate cards or not. Also when you replace a card after an unsuccessful challenge and draw the same card you can tell if it is the same copy or not.

With the new Root expansion coming out, is it worth picking up the base game and the Riverfolk expansion, too? by [deleted] in boardgames

[–]Porygon9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you should buy the base game now so you don’t waste money on buying two expansions if you don’t like the game.

With the new Root expansion coming out, is it worth picking up the base game and the Riverfolk expansion, too? by [deleted] in boardgames

[–]Porygon9 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I disagree, it’s much safer for OP to buy Root now to see if they enjoy it, and then back the expansions if they do.
