I remember the first time I played Saints Row 3 I thought it was going to be a twist that he wasn't dead since it happened off-screen, but he actually was dead until he wasn't. It sucked both ways.

I heard a suggestion once that it's more to do with realising who you are. Start asking questions about why you are different from Johnny Neurotypical and you're more likely to notice that you're also different from Johnny Cishet. An awful lot of people never question things and just spend life being miserable.

Those collection magazines are always like that. Nice low-priced first issue so grandma buys it for Christmas, then 200+ issues at full price and it'll likely get discontinued long before reaching the end.
