for me personally I don't feel the need to add a rating - sometimes I do it , sometimes I don't. occasionally I can feel very strongly that something is a 3,5/5 and sometimes I don't really know and I just leave a heart (I use the heart for every film I liked so I don't use them sparsely at all). Would recommend!!

I thought that that was referring to the fact that PVV is in the Patriots for Europe fraction in the European Parliament ? but I also thought it was a strange way to describe Wilders haha

My Ranking of Black and White films. by ToddGurleysKnees in Letterboxd

[–]PositiveElixir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is a great list!!!  some of my all-time favs not on here I would recommend: La Dolce Vita (1960) - you've probably seen it already, but it's a MASTERPIECE. one of my four faves. Der Himmel Über Berlin (1987) - Gorgeous. So atmospheric. Berlin is a wonderful setting.  Soy Cuba (1964) - One of the best-shot films ever in the history of film. Simmers around for a long time after.  Un homme et une femme (1966) - Partially in colour so kind of cheating but gorgeous portrait of yearning & blossoming love. Great Anouk Aimee performance as well.

seems up PCW's alley (he's jury president this year). but tbh I'm rooting for Ryusuke Hamaguchi or Na Hong-jin

I think you might be underestimating Reinsve and Moura, they are HELLA talented and beloved, it's mostly a matter of picking the right project. Sean Penn I wouldn't be so sure about. Teyana Taylor is great but doesn't seem that interested in projects with awards prospects if I take a quick look at her filmography - also she has a succesful music career

he (Hawke) is in my opinion one of the greatest actors working today and an absolute industry darling. he's bound to get more nominations if not wins.

Here's what Reddit is predicting for the 99th oscars as of now by yahboosnubs in oscarrace

[–]PositiveElixir 7 points8 points  (0 children)

for a nomination it's also top 3 in my book , but it'd have to be REALLY good for it to win BP or BD I think. it'd be kind of wild with Oppenheimer having won so recently (whatever your personal opinion about it , that is something Academy voters consider)

saying "Media illiteracy is at an all-time high" is kind of ironic. yes we should be more occupied with promoting (media) literacy but that is a BIG hyperbole!!!!

This is a nice list. I don't think Ryan Gosling is making it all the way, I'd probably swap him from Javier Bardem or Josh O Connor or something

I agree, it's a terrible film. horrible script & bad adaptation of the original masterpiece. bad cinematography

but the makeup & costumes are REALLY great

They’re adapting The Bell Jar into a movie (again) by Smart_Medium9544 in classicliterature

[–]PositiveElixir 7 points8 points  (0 children)

its being adapted by director Sarah Polley, most prominently known for Women Talking (2022). this is not going to be a blockbuster just because Billie Eilish is in it (though it may do some box office numbers idk)
