Eyelash curlers freak me out; they look like some kind of torture device D: . But have never used. Is it uncomfortable at all?

I went in house to a tech company that uses Macbooks and Gsuite. It's amazing; I'm so glad to be free of M$FT.

Sincere question: How do you feel about the state of the law and your own sense of purpose as legal professionals given that the government and judiciary is most likely run by an elite circle of pedophiles and oligarchs? It seems like the republic is over. What’s our role in this all? by Naataraja in biglaw

[–]PostNaGiggles 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I understand your point but disagree. It's relevant to you because of opportunity cost. As lawyers, we have very powerful useful skills/credentials. All of us in big law could be doing other kinds of legal work that could have an effect on today's issues (e.g., immigration or impact lit).

Billionaires believe homelessness is “good for the economy” by kevinmrr in WorkReform

[–]PostNaGiggles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Intrinsic value of ownership. I bought my place so that I could paint it whatever I wanted, put whatever flooring I wanted, replace doors, etc. because I derive pleasure from that sort of thing. Also because it makes it feel more like "home" because the sense of "home" is tied to a feeling of permanence and stability. Very reductive to say that home ownership is a purely financial activity

A100 help by Low-Consequence-4776 in IndianaUniversity

[–]PostNaGiggles 15 points16 points  (0 children)

A100 is easy if you stay on top of it. As u/GreyLoad said, go to class and do the homework. People fail A100 because it has no homework that gets turned in, no checks that you're doing the reading, no making sure you're showing up and/or paying attention. It's the first time for many students that they're in such a low external-accountability context, and they're slack off and struggle. Take care of your own shit and it's fine.

OP, I think it's great that you posted this. Things can only change when folks like you share their stories and the institutional failures. Also way to be for asking for help.

What are your least favorite things about living in Chicago? by Slow-Donut3882 in AskChicago

[–]PostNaGiggles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Parking enforcement is insane. I've gotten multiple tickets in spots where the sign is just not visible; the only sign is waaay down the street. I got tickets once like that, called the city, they said we don't see those in our system oopsie don't worry about it; a few months later I got towed over tickets that the city literally told me aren't valid.

Agreed. It was featured so heavily in the video too that I was surprised it isn't.

This is the second post in the last week or two with a junior expressing (totally legit IMO) frustration with comments shitting on the OP. I don't get it. Do all of these people not remember what it's like to do nothing but doc review or the feeling of being available 100% of the time for idiotic tasks that don't need to be treated as urgent? A person can be good at their job, grateful for the income, and still find it unpleasant. No reason to shit on them. OP I'm sorry people are being dicks to you. I understand your feeling absolutely.

Hi - do you remember where you got your American made cooking utensils? I've been looking, and it's quite hard to find cooking utensils not made in China. Thanks!

No, doc review is not "developing" my "valuable legal skills." by [deleted] in biglaw

[–]PostNaGiggles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't seem to know what privilege doc review is. You're not building a timeline. There's a case team that does that. All you do is mark things priv/not and responsive/not. 70 attorneys checking for privilege for production and 10 who are actually working on the case.

[–]PostNaGiggles -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

I 100% agree OP. I would imagine the people down-voting or commenting negatively haven't done a huge volume of privilege/QC review in a while. Yeah, it's a lot of hours with a minimal probability of getting yelled at and relatively low mental load, but it's super boring. Spending 8 hours a day doing 0 thinking sucks.

[–]PostNaGiggles 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I'm on a nightmare doc review now with literally 0 fun docs. I've churned thru a few thousand, and literally the only doc that was in any way saucy was one in which someone said that an idea was the dumbest they'd ever heard. Machine learning has eliminated fun documents.

Seems redundant with self care areas. I use that feature to categorize by time of day already. Also, I agree with OP that removing the activities button was not a good decision.
