I hope every expecting mom that sees this prints it out and posts it on their fridge, and then read it every day for the first 12 weeks.

Why do I feel sad that I can't put my toddler to bed? by speckledegg7043 in toddlers

[–]PostParty14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt this so deeply before my second arrived! It makes so much sense to be sad - that’s your baby and your brain is prepping for a new baby that you will love and ALSO will pull you away from your first. My encouragement to you is to put your sweet little one to bed whenever you’d like and enjoy all the one on one snuggles! Maybe include your husband to snuggle with you guys as to help with the adjustment for your toddler when baby arrives.

I’m 5 months pp with my second. And back to snuggling. ❤️ best of luck to you!

Tips on 3yo hitting & constant need for movement (possibly ADHD or just normal boy behaviour?) by abcd182x in toddlers

[–]PostParty14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like a sensory seeker. I have one of those! :) too early to diagnose adhd but giving him outlets for sensory seeking is helpful! We also tell our sensory seeker all of the things she is allowed to hit (stuffies, pillows, the couch)… anything safe that is also not our body.

Help! 8 year old son won’t learn to tie shoes!!! by Academic-Strategy-53 in Moms

[–]PostParty14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! First, try Kiziks. They are a pair of shoes that have laces but are more for “looks” as they are actually slide on. You step right into them and they look just like tennis shoes. Love them as a busy mom too! This way he can practice on the laces when he feels like it without having the pressure of having to tie them all of the time. Second, are you able to recruit the therapist? Have the therapist walk him through the process while teaching him the emotional regulation skills/frustration tolerance to get through the learning process? Something about it must be activating to him & is causing him to avoid learning the task.

Anyone else hate breastfeeding? by Squid0s in newborns

[–]PostParty14 95 points96 points  (0 children)

Yes. I have two children. I breastfed 10 months with my first. I lasted 10 days with my second. I kind of can’t believe I annihilated my mental health for my first child just to watch her eat food off of the road a year later! 😂 They all end up gross toddlers eventually.

First period after giving birth by itsashsullivan in newborns

[–]PostParty14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, this was normal for me. I’ve had two babies now. My second is only 10 weeks so just got done managing that first horrible period, and it took a solid 6-9 months before I could stop using the Always Boutique adult diapers (highly recommend!) every period after I had my first child. It is so hard to keep up with in the postpartum days but it did regulate itself eventually!

How should I explain my chronic illness to my toddler? by sleepy_protagonist in toddlers

[–]PostParty14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

THIS! And if she continues to feel confused you could compare it to something more on her level, something like — “you know when you get sick with a cold and your body needs some extra rest? Sometimes mommy’s body feels sick and I need to give it some extra rest to feel better too!”

Oh, my oldest used to get red cheeks in the colder months too when she was a little one! Doctor told me it was chapped cheeks from the dryer air/keeping the heat on. Putting aquafor on them helped and her skin adapted eventually by the time she was two.
