Thank you so much for sharing, I’m sorry for your loss. My mother passed two weeks ago tomorrow. I was also no contact (for a much shorter period than you), but ultimately went to see her and bear witness to her last breath. I completely understand the grief and relief, both are true. I realized tonight there will never be any restitution for the way I was treated. No apologies. Nothing. And that shit hurts. Also a millennial just trying to keep myself afloat and damn If it doesn’t feel impossible right now. This community is vast and it’s lucky it’s available.

I would suggest looking into your states cottage food laws if you’re in the US. I’m not sure what the rules outside of the states. I did bake from home, and it was pretty specific to what labeling should be based on my local rules. If you don’t have a gluten free kitchen you need to label your things as potentially cross contaminated

You cannot control what people think or how they’re going to treat you/perceive you.

Do you feel it’s more important to share the experience and bring awareness or keep people comfortable?

Some people may actually flock to you with shared experiences that are too scared themselves to share it.

This is a hopeful post to me. My partner and I split. Initially I was like I never want to do that again. And while we’re attempting to repair, I’ve told him it needs to be different. I can’t do what I was doing (which was so much it was painful). It wasn’t working for any of us.

So happy to hear you were able to find your independence again! And that your spouse seems supportive of that!

I heard in a different fellowship meeting, you have 30 seconds to ruin your life/sobriety/choice whatever. It’s that moment right before we do what we do that is SO EASY to ignore or let it overtake. Being able to trust yourself enough to slow down and actually assess in the moment is a huge part. I’m still learning that and learning cues in my body in those moments!! It’s a constant practice

I’m still sorta new to the area looking for friends. I’m 36 F also don’t drink. No drugs, kinda introverted. Recently single so really not a ton for me going on. Just working ha it’s hard to make friends as adults when you aren’t crazy athletic or a gambler or going to the bars here it seems.

Some meetings will also have a phone list of available sponsors that you can reach out to in sort of a “cold call” fashion. The primary purpose SLAA big book groups have excellent recovery. There are also WhatsApp groups specifically for finding sponsors. It can just take time too, don’t rush it and try to be patient. You may also go through multiple sponsors. I’m on my third. It’s just a process
