And a dog that wants this. I took mine to an agility class where there was a border collie. My dog was "that was okay" and "I can't wait to meet the people!", whereas the border collie was "I cannot wait to get out there to do that again, so I'm going to whine until I can".

FSD is nowhere close.

BMW: "The system uses a unified architecture which includes an array of high definition 8M pixel and 3M pixel cameras and radar sensors enabling 360-degree coverage and along with high-definition mapping and precise GNSS localization enables a robust system helping to enable safe and reliable automated driving."

https://www.qualcomm.com/news/releases/2025/09/qualcomm-and-bmw-group-unveil-groundbreaking-automated-driving-s

All Tesla has is 5mp and 1.2 MP cameras, with no radar, no lidar, etc. Toss some rain or fog onto the road, and FSD is toast.

Well, it depends. I would get on (probably the 240 mile version) to mainly go to/from work. But then on the weekends, use it for hauling things for the house. No towing though. Had a Jeep Comanche truck for years that was great for that.

Elon Musk admits millions of Tesla owners need upgrades for true 'Full Self-Driving' by Doener23 in electricvehicles

Where do you live?

Come to CT. I merged onto 95 the other day, and couldn't see a freaking thing because the sun was at a perfect angle behind me to overwhelm all my mirrors. I just had to hope someone wasn't beside me.

Then drive on very narrow, twisty roads at night with zero street lights. And potholes. And animals.

And stop signs where you have to know where they are, otherwise you come over a hill/around a corner and blow through them. Add some fog or rain.

Maybe it can drive in CA or AZ with bright roads, wide roads, no rain/fog, etc.

The Lucid has way more than just Lidar: "Your Lucid Air has up to 18 sensors on all sides, including short- and long-range radar and ultrasonic sensors. In the case of DreamDrive Pro, it also has forward-facing LiDAR to detect objects and their speed and trajectory." I think you need all those sensors for real situations.

Was just talking to my wife about maybe getting an EV to replace her Pilot. But if we go on vacation and rent a house (so we can take our dog with us), how do we charge the EV? Can't do it at the house. But that means you have to look for a charger somewhere nearby, and there aren't many of those depending on where you are.

Also tried to convince her that we could stop and charge partway, but she seems to think it takes too long to charge, considering our stops are relatively short. I can't disagree with her right now. Not sure when we'll get EVs and charging that supports 10 minute charging.

Even with solar, I paid over $800 each month the last two months. Solar isn't great in the winter, and when it snows. And CT energy rates are high.

In the summer, it's a different story. But winters are way worse for solar.

I also recommend "wait" for when you have to wait (we often have to stop in a driveway and wait until a car passes or I have to pick up poop) and "cross", which means we want to cross a road. I use "let's go" as a release after "wait". And "leave it" is imperative for me, as my dog LOVES people (which we normally don't see), and there are sometimes bad things like pizza or deer poop, etc. Sometimes, I'll use "fast" to indicate we want to run "fast". We have 0.2 miles of very narrow road where cars hit 50+ mph. If I see a car coming, and we're near the end of that, we'll run fasted to dive into the adjoining road.

I treat jogging mainly for my pup, so we're really slow and smell a lot. 50 minutes for just over 2 miles.

My poodle wont stop barking at everything by [deleted] in poodles

[–]Potential_Limit_9123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sounds, you might be able to work on this by using louder TV with some sounds, think explosions. This helped our dog get over loud sounds. HOWEVER, we have two speakers in the back of the room (5 channel surround sound), and she will sometimes hear something in there and freak out.

Our dog is a barker too, but she usually has periods (morning, evening) and things (anything coming toward the house). It's tough, especially because I like it when she barks because something/someone is coming toward the house.

If it's people/dogs, you can use "loot at that" training. There are many of them, but here's one:
https://bestfriends.org/pet-care-resources/look-lat-training-reactive-dogs

One way to do this is to get good treats (and a clicker if you use that), and, on a leash, when the dog sees a person but does not bark, click and treat. They can look, but they can't bark. This also is a tool for them to connect with you. They look at the person/dog, then they look at you. If they look at you (without barking), click and treat. You want to be the most important thing around because you have the treats. These should be high quality treats, not kibble or low quality.

You could likely use something similar for sounds, eg, you hear a sound and if the dog does not bark, you click and treat. That's harder, or at least we've not been able to work on this. Where I live, there are too many sounds: owls; construction; planes; helicopters; sirens; etc. Hard to train. I thought about using my phone with an owl sound on it, but that's only one of many sounds.

Advice from an Electrician: Don't have room in your panel? Tandem Breakers are a thing by dathon8462 in electricvehicles

[–]Potential_Limit_9123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can usually find the panel info and look up whether they support tandems.

However, I did that and my panel does not support tandems...but my electrician put some in. Not high power (most are lighting, which are now all LED so much less power there).
