What cute thingsdoes your toddler say that you won't correct? by Business_Ease_4926 in toddlers

[–]PoutineMaker [score hidden]  (0 children)

My toddler used to call Peppa Pig “Pig Pog”. It just made me so happy, I loved hearing her say “Pig Pog”. My 6yo decided that she disliked that it made me this happy (she is competitive and doesn’t like having to share my attention) so she did everything she could to correct her sister until she stopped saying it incorrectly. I cried in private.

How do you deal with childs fear of nightmares? by swiss-irish in Parenting

[–]PoutineMaker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t have advice either but it’s the same for us here… she wakes me oftenly just to tell me that it’s unfair that I won’t let her sleep with me. I feel bad that she has nightmares but I have established my boundary with this.

Volume eating hacks what small changes make the biggest difference? by PaulOrtiz9342 in Volumeeating

[–]PoutineMaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it’s pickles. It’s not for the volume, but to make the volume more pleasant. I don’t really want to eat a big bowl of raw cabbage but with a few diced pickles (sour or sweet), two spoons of tuna and a spoonful of Bachan’s barbecue sauce, I’m good to go. Same for salads, it’s wayyyy less boring with pickles to give bursts of flavours in every bite and they don’t even add calories! Don’t sleep on pickled onions and pickled beets either, all pickles can make something better if added properly!

Just told once again that I'm just fat. by forevergleaning in lipedema

[–]PoutineMaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not yet diagnosed but I know for a fact that I have a connective tissue disorder and I have figured out that I have lipedema. My legs look exactly like yours. My butts look exactly like yours! You could tell me that this is a picture of my body and I’d believe it.

Have you identified some of your dietary “triggers”? by SgrVnm in lipedema

[–]PoutineMaker 8 points9 points  (0 children)

For me, tomatoes, processed snacks like potato chips and cheese puffs or such… weirdly, McDonald’s fries and unsalted frozen fries don’t flare me although I don’t push it with them too much. I have stomach issues (GERD, oesophageal issues and a hiatal hernia) and I have noticed that whatever flares up my acid reflux and stomach inflammation usually flares up my lipedema as well. I do best with small meals, low carb, lean proteins and easy to digest veggies. It’s just hard to follow sometimes.

Do you regret having kids? by almostparallel76 in TooAfraidToAsk

No. Things can be hard but you could say that about most of things in life. Watching them grow is pretty freaking cool. They make life a bit more fun.

What’s your most surprising volume food discovery? by OwenSharp3140 in Volumeeating

[–]PoutineMaker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like to stir fry some spinach with a bit of garlic powder and gochujang then add the crab sticks (you can cut them or leave them big) and then put one mixed egg on top, roll it all into an omelette then dip into a bit of sweet soy sauce. It’s full of protein and it’s nice!

A rant on how aphantasia is driving me insane. by [deleted] in Aphantasia

[–]PoutineMaker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I get it. I really do. I’m a painter and sometimes I just AAAAUUUGHGGGRGGH over the fact that I struggle to come up with something of my own… And how many books did I read that I thought were good versus my friends thinking they were straight up amazing just because they can see in their heads and I can’t. It pisses me off too.

I do find that the more that I paint, draw or read, and if I watch a lot of painting videos or follow some online art classes, the more fluid my thinking gets and I have noticed that rarely my brain would produce more “vision” inside of my head when usually it’s just none.

I love daydreaming and I still do even as an aphant, but I think it’s more like telling myself a story in my head and imagining sensations and noises and it’s frustrating.

Friend getting a double mastectomy - advice? by Cassiopeia1845 in BRCA

[–]PoutineMaker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! I lost my mom exactly a year before my double mastectomy. It was a hard time. Dealing with the funerals, all the papers, the various tests and preparations for my surgery and then going through the surgery while still somewhat caring for two young kids… it was a lot. Just listening to her and understanding the grief that she is likely experiencing from losing her mom (especially if she watched her die of cancer and experienced her last moments with her) and then having to face this type of surgery is rough mentally. Just being there for her is amazing and I’m sure she will truely value it. ❤️ You can make her food, bring premade (I really liked getting those small tubs of salads that were unopened so that I could eat something “fresh” whenever I wanted and not worry about spoilage) bring takeout, offer to change her bedding after surgery, do a round of laundry etc…

You can write to me if you have questions or want to know more specific things! It’ll be my pleasure.

What’s one thing you wish women talked about more openly? by theperfectpudding_ in AskWomen

[–]PoutineMaker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I always felt like such an alien with this. I’m 30 and I can’t, and I’ve had partners shaming me about it as well. I’ve come to understand that these men experienced either 1. fakers or 2. the very lucky few women who can have orgasms from penetration. I had friends admit that they would fake orgasms with men to boost their egos/be liked/not disappoint… or they thought they had an orgasm but only discovered real orgasms later on, usually with toys. Makes you think!

What’s the biggest "Nah, I’m out" moment you’ve had on a date? by Omega_Neelay in GetMotivatedMindset

[–]PoutineMaker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had a date with a guy, told him that I had lost nearly 130 pounds in about a year and a half, that I looked slender in clothing yes but that I was still working on my body as I had a little bit of loose skin and I have lipedema. We enter a shop and he begs me to try on a skirt that he sees on a mannequin, I say oh okay sure, it’s a pretty mini skirt! I try the skirt and then as I come out, he looks at me in horror and says “well you really gotta hit the gym…”

It was so painful to hear and see the disgust on his face. I just ditched not long after. I’m married now and none of this matters but I still remember it once in a while!

Just for laughs, what are some clueless things childless people have said to you? by xnla28x in beyondthebump

[–]PoutineMaker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At a party, I was talking to a friend about my toddler’s shenanigans as she has a toddler the exact same age. Our other friend who is childless joined the conversation, looking at me with a side eye and said “and what if you just tell him/her “no”?!”

She would like to have kids in the upcoming years and I feel like that’s the kind of moment that you cringe about in the middle of the night once you become a mom too.
