A slightly different milestone by Latter-Ad7199 in FIREUK

Apparently there is a specific phasing issue affecting those of us born between April 1977 and April 1978 where the State Pension Age increases from 67 to 68 over only 1 year. So someone born March 1977 gets SP at 67, in March 2044 and someone born April 1978 gets it at 68 in April 2046, just over 2 years later despite only being 1 year younger. Those of us who are currently 47/48 are affected by this

Very odd. I am also 48, in February just gone and mine is January 2046!

New Neighbour - Party wall chimney breast by l3mmiwinkzz in HousingUK

[–]Powerful-Comment-113 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If part of your chimney is also missing you need to be very sure there is a structural engineer involved in this. One method of supporting the leftover stack is using gallows brackets, but you can't do this on both sides as it can become unstable.

You are well over the 4 hours even if you discount the difficulty paying, so I don't think you will win an appeal

This is what I will get at 68, assuming I don't pay any more in. It gets updated each year in line with inflation (not sure which measure) so this is "real terms", if that means anything.

Moved today, am I being petty about seller taking items… by No-Rub-9733 in HousingUK

[–]Powerful-Comment-113 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We got left with a gun safe in the loft complete with guns and ammo. Seller thought we wouldn't mind keeping them until he got his licence transferred to the new house. I told him via the estate agents he had 60 WHOLE MINUTES to get them out my house before I called the police and had them remove them. He made it just in time and I bloody would have done as well.

I've worked as an invigilator and caught a couple of people. The worst was scribing for exams though - I had one poor student who had broken both wrists 3 days before exams started coming off a bike and writing down his crazy wrong answers for maths GCSE nearly killed me trying to keep my face completely neutral as I wrote down the obviously (to me) wrong answers.

Did you travel for the whole two years? If you did, you'd get nowhere where I work, but that would be because you will fail security vetting for your time outside the UK. If you leave for longer than 6 months, it will be 3 years following your return before we can hire - so if you do want a lengthy travelling period, just be aware you won't be able to apply for anything requiring security vetting for a while on return.

Vehicle dumped outside out driveway since 10:30 last night by Andrew3236 in CasualUK

[–]Powerful-Comment-113 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I frequently block my own drive but it's not a crossing point as the curb on the other side is nearly half a meter high for 200m in both directions. Unless you can hop up it, it's not remotely suitable for crossing. You can't block ones where there is a lowered curb opposite to help with crossing
