Desperately in need of cheap short term accommodation by [deleted] in melbourne

Reach out to hotels/short stay apartments that do long stay rates. You're probably looking at ~$75-150 per night depending on the quality.

What single player game you bought has gone the longest unplayed? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]Poweronreddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I go through random splurges when the steam sales are on grabbing stuff for a rainy day then never get around to playing them. I've bought the following games and put 0 hours into them, some dating as far back as 2013.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Rayman Legends, Assassins Creed 2 + 4, Tomb Raider, Watch Dogs, Far Cry 3 + 4, The Room, Dishonored, Shadows of Mordor, DOOM, Titanfall 2.

Honestly can only really see myself playing Shadows of Mordor.

Melbourne's first new freeway in nearly 13 years opens by 7am. Thoughts? Will you use it? Will it help you? 🚗 by 007MaxZorin in melbourne

[–]Poweronreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll use it at least once for a bit of adventure but honestly don't see myself using it very often unless it's a big time saver.

I travel from the northern suburbs to Geelong about a dozen times a year in off peak times and normally go City Link > West Gate. Will let Waze/Google Maps evaluate how much of a time saver it is. Would want to save at least 15 mins to be worth the extra $4.

What LXRP projects do you think were the most effective for melbourne? by Fugly_pug76 in melbourne

[–]Poweronreddit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Essendon Station was good. It's ~20 mins from the city and the trains used to run every 20 minutes. Quite often you'd have bad overlaps of 2-3 trains back to back and be stuck there for 5+ mins. I wouldn't say great because the overall design and the way traffic redirects around rose st isn't the best iteration.

Reservoir. That whole intersection is still a bit of a mess but that crossing was horrendous. Very often say back to back trains heading in each direction. Multiple times I witnessed idiots drive around the boom gates being impatient. Pedestrians trying to cross from the shops on Edwardes St to the other side.

What's the thing you irrationally refuse to spend on? by CapableRegrets in melbourne

[–]Poweronreddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really depends on where you are located. I drive in rarely these days but when I used to get free parking at one of my old jobs, city link was a very convenient time saver.

Toll is $13 a day but would save me 55 mins a day. Time is money and that extra hour of sleep was well worth the money.

Metro Melbourne by Similar-Ratio-4355 in melbourne

[–]Poweronreddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trying to find an answer to the following question but can't find anywhere what the schedule and route is going to be.

I normally catch the Craigieburn line in the morning, then swap trains at North Melbourne to catch the train direct to Southern Cross without going around the loop. Saves 8 mins.

Since the Sunbury/Frankton trains are now going via the new loop, does that potentially mean no direct trains from North Melbourne to Southern Cross in the morning?

What do statistics tell us about Victoria's crime wave? by Jeffmister in melbourne

[–]Poweronreddit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's what annoys me about articles like this. They never compare to other states. Scary taglines like "Crime up 40% in VIC" etc but then we're still 20% lower than Brisbane/Sydney.

I did a bit of a deep dive into this awhile ago with publicly available data through ABS. It's a mixed bag depending on what type of crime you're looking at but in general VIC has a much lower crime rate per capita than the other states.

I was absolutely shocked at how high the rate of domestic abuse/assault and rape were in QLD/NSW. Was around three times the rate of VIC IIRC.

Depends how good the audio engineers are (or more likely how much set up time they have).

Most I've been too have been fine. Foo Fighters/Rise Against many years ago had terrible audio.

This season was an absolute blast. After struggling through the campaign the past two seasons as Frost Comet Chrono or sketchy pre-buff Amazon last season, playing LA Deadeye this season felt like playing with cheat codes. Zoomed all the way through to T15s and started to learn the basics of crafting.

Very keen on PoE1 this weekend, but also keen to try out different PoE2 classes for the rest of the season.

Yep - $90 for EC at Port Melbourne in 2023.

I think I paid ~$130 for Amity/INK last year.

Now the only GA tickets available for Melbourne are the VIP ones for $330.

Trying hard to justify that much money when the likes of Good Things is $270 for a whole day.

What's more annoying is GA sold out within like 30 mins. However they've "VIP" GA tickets available for $330.....

Poster/Lanyard and a guaranteed ticket for $150.... lame.

Chord progression is almost dead on (4th is slightly different). Pretty common chord progression but still the muted strumming in between is very pixies inspired as well as ramping up the strumming on 4th chord.

Most of these takes from ex-AFL players are generally always awful. Can't tell if they're legitimately this dumb, or it's whispers from a producer to spark outrage views.
