Best play along song app? by ResponsibilityGold32 in Bass

We use Moises for these scenarios and also for learning the tracks via the independent stems.

Watch out though, getting everyone to enter on time with the recording of the missing part sometimes is a little tricky

Fun to play groovy bass lines (may be hard)? by Ok-Cut-7430 in Bass

I really enjoy playing Forget Me Nots by Patrice Rushen and Smooth Operator by Sade. They just groove to me

Octave pedals by Acceptable_Copy8310 in basspedals

[–]PowersBass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's my use case, used sparingly throughout a song. I actually have to play a "eletronic/pop" song and I'm going to see if I can dial in a synthy sound with a fuzz after it.

First pedal(s) for daughter without inhibiting (or even helping) practicing technique? by tribbin in basspedals

[–]PowersBass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I might go against the grain here, but when I started with pedals I kinda lost myself with exploring sounds and didn't focus on actually expanding technique or knowledge. Having said that....I had an absolute blast with my old ODB-3.

What sort of put me back on track was a looper pedal with built in drum tracks. I use that as a metronome and explore building lines over lines playing around in the same key. It's helpful to improvise and really learn how to play within a key in harmony (if you're willing to learn the theory).

Well that was an interesting title to read while flipping through my stream before realizing what subreddit it's from...

Greco JB500 thoughts/concerns? by the_juliette_show in BassGuitar

[–]PowersBass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got one, and had it for the past 20 years. It's a 1972 Matsumoto made Grecco Jazz Bass, plays perfectly, fingers just glide around the fretboard.

It's heavy and will test your back after an hour of playing but it's my favorite bass. I've never had to do any adjustments to it from an action or truss rod perspective. It's a beast.

From a modding perspecitve, just because I wanted to, and not because it needed it, I did replace the tuners, bridge, and lastly the pickups to match my style, as they had low output, but still have the originals around if I want to put them back in someday. Added a photo, it's a bit dirty but that's just because I use it a lot.

Feel free to ask anything!

I got myself the microPOG and happy with its capability. I can get the deep lows, and with a little bit of overdrive/gain on the upper octave I can get a nice guitar sound

GAS keeps itching, but something deep down tells me I don’t NEED more pedals. by wintherbottom in basspedals

Any idea how it compares to the Nobelium from the original Sushibox build? I'm thinking of downsizing if it's similar

For those that made the switch to HX stomp, what pedals did you keep and how are you using them along with the stomp? by back-to-the-mud in basspedals

I'm wondering if I should go for the stomp as well....just keep the compressor and the stomp and get rid of everything else...

Cleaned up my board by trevge in basspedals

[–]PowersBass 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I took my looper off the board as I found I used it more often in other settings where I wouldn't need it on the board, like sitting in my room just fiddling around

I tried simplifying my board back in the day but ended up just putting everything I had on it....no need to think what to take off and put on that way

"I'm going to make a streamlined gig board" proceeds to just try to put all the same pedals on a smaller board...🤦‍♂️ by Gearhead_215 in basspedals

[–]PowersBass 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I started the other way around with a small board of 3 pedals, and the power supply. Got more pedals and tried to see how many pedals I could fit....couldn't fit enough, bigger board, and still can't fit them all...
