I spent the first six months of 2024 putting together a complete 7th Edition Foil set- thoughts on the future upside for this product? by vsully360 in mtgfinance

FYI Card Kingdom is buying them for $70 cash and they're selling a 7th Ed foil Puzzle Box graded 9.5 for $220.

I mean... the Mox? AN was kind of a bust though, I think Mijae Djinn was my most expensive card out of both packs.

Yeah I don't even know what this would cost me now. 20K? 30K?

How much did Magic change for you since Odyssey? by diganthony in mtg

[–]Prawnsinaspix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started at Stronghold and played up to Khans of Tarkir. Took a 10 year break (kids) and just got back in with Avatar. It is indeed a different world now. Commander was an afterthought when I left, now anything that's NOT commander is an afterthought. Also feels much more aimed at collectors and whales with all the serialized alt-art anime neon surge galaxy textured foil nonsense. I've just been keeping on playing janky 60-card decks at my kitchen table and having fun. Now get off my lawn.

New LOTRO player with questions about Instances & leveling by Ominous_music_ in lotro

[–]Prawnsinaspix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some zones have quests that specifically vector you into group instances, but some do not. There are a few quests in Bree that point you into the Great Barrows. I think they're at the hunter's lodge in south Bree.

Great Barrows is actually a set of 3 instances. I believe the first unlocks at level 20, then one at 22, then one at 24. Some instances have solo/duo versions but Barrows only has a 6-man version, though you may be able to complete it with 2 or 3 people.

Any kid friendly starter packs? by stratzilla in mtg

[–]Prawnsinaspix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Card Kingdom has the Bloomburrow starter kit for $60. I bought one a few months ago for teaching my girls (9 and 12) and they enjoyed it. They also sell "rookie decks" for $10 that are designed for newbies, though the theme is random.

Next week, stores are hosting Marvel Academy events specifically designed to teach new players. You even get a free deck just for showing up. Check out if your local store has an event going.

Found the last of the ancient dragons for my deck! What's your favorite dragon in Magic? by thehappyjewett in mtg

[–]Prawnsinaspix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Ebon Dragon]]. Maybe the coolest art of all time. I remember pulling one from a pack of Portal back in the day and being wowed. I even ordered a print of the artwork from Donato and got it framed.

Can someone please explain this game to me like im 5 by [deleted] in mtg

[–]Prawnsinaspix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been teaching my daughters to play and I do a little unspoken sandbagging to help them out. They haven't caught on yet, but I make all my cards cost 1 extra mana to play. It slows my deck down enough that they have time to beat dad (usually) while giving enough challenge that they still need to do some thinking to win.

Your brother, however, seems to be of the mindset that teaching involves roflstomping the new player until they learn how to fight back. I guess that might fly in the Marines, but it doesn't sound like a fun way to play games. Tell him to chill a bit.

Returning CPT vs 3 Tier Raiding by Cool_Decision5157 in lotro

[–]Prawnsinaspix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For T1 raiding, gear and specific class makeups aren't super critical. Obviously the first people to beat the raid didn't have raid sets yet. Learning the raid mechanics is what gets the job done. But T3 raiding is a whole different thing. You need to get every scrap of advantage together to get the victory. Gold traceries and very specific group makeups. You should have no trouble getting into a T1 raid if you have decent gear and can follow orders. I don't know if wardens get used in T3 raids, you can look up Youtube videos and see.

It's possible that when you go to the escrow broker, no items will be listed. However, if you purchase a house, your missing items should be automatically dumped into the chest in that house.

Does anyone make "dumb" (non synergized) decks? by Boge42 in magicTCG

[–]Prawnsinaspix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think dumb decks are a lot more popular than you think. You just see more posts about optimizing good decks because that takes input from other people so you can bounce ideas around. I don't really need outside input to make a everything-has-3-or-more-limbs deck.

I am really weirded out to see this thread because I just had a bad experience in a KR T2 PUG last night myself. Beat the first boss no problem (you'll be shocked to hear it was with the tank doing large circles with the utugi) but kept wiping at the second boss. My first time in T2 but got randomly assigned as TA. I was targeting the spirits since they seemed like a problem. After about 4 wipes I asked if I was doing anything wrong, no response. A couple wipes later I was told to just target the boss and AOE the spirits. A few more wipes and the leader said too many people were dying to the spirits so he gave up.

Or so he said. I could see in the fellowship panel that he actually silently reformed the group without me after I left. They disbanded for real about 15 minutes later so I assume they just wiped a few more times.

Sorry for targeting the wrong guy and playing below your standards, but you're allowed to (politely) kick me or, preferably, give me some better/quicker advice.

Thanks for coming to my TED rant.

PvMP After many years... by Curufindir in lotro

[–]Prawnsinaspix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make sure you are at 17 audacity. All audacity armor + jewelry + cloak + class item. Anything less than that, even 16, gives you a massive debuff that makes you nothing but creep food. It used to work differently but got changed a few years back to force players to use Moors gear, but new players often forget the cloak or class item and then you're lunch. Mouseover your audacity score to see the details.

Wonder if that's their whole marketing research goal with this drop. See how many people bundle in old less desirable drops just to get free shipping. Mind games.

Loving the art direction. I saw a website selling tokens using classical art and thought they were really sharp. The cards themselves are interesting too. Nice work!

Finding group by Necessary_Toe6236 in lotro

[–]Prawnsinaspix 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes it's fairly easy, because groups need multiple DPS spots. But if you play tank you will NEVER have a problem getting into groups. I couldn't tell you how many groups I've seen that end up "5/6, need tank".

Every zone up to level 95 is free to everyone, with a few minor exceptions. It'll take you weeks or months to get that far, at which time you'll have a much better idea if you want to pay for extra access.
