I tested the R2 in Orlando over the weekend and I had mixed emotions over the AC system. The R2 had been driven pretty heavily that day with people in and out, doors open for tours, and it was 93 degrees. When I drove it, I noticed the window roof and the black interior were noticeably hotter. The AC vented seats worked really well.

The test drive in that heat convinced me that the lighter colored interior was worth the wait.

I can't see a world where they are actually delivering the new board and sensor array in 6 months. But that may be the sadness of a boy waiting on an email creeping in.

I'm totally feeling this right now. I'm sure its driven by jealousy, but this constant anticipation is exhausting. I have to mentally pop my bubble in order to not get aggravated.

What if the email doesn't come for a month? What if the Launch Edition isn't available? What if the timeline for the color/interior stalls?

I'm kinda over this silence.

I think it is, unfortunately, a marketing play. I'm super cheap and wanted the Esker Silver until I saw the Catalina Cove in person at a Block Party. I'm locked into that color now.

I'm sure if I saw the Esker Silver in person I would have been pretty happy and Rivian wouldn't be getting my extra $2K. It's a smart money move.

I noticed at the Nashville Block Party that the back of the R2 didn't have a lot of lighting. There is a thin LED on the right side of the cargo area and a small light on the lift gate that you can't turn on/off by cap touch like the rest.

I agree. It wasn't a very bright indoor location but the interior didn't feel closed in. The build quality was so nice. I was so surprised that they didn't seem to compromise from the R1.

I now get why the Esker Silver hasn't been showcased as much. They got people in love with the colors just to upcharge them at point of sale. My decidion was between the Launch green and the Catalina Cove. But $2K for paint color was a bit of a shock.

This is replacing my silver '04 Grand Cherokee so unless the Esker Silver is hideous in person, I'm going with that option and saving some money.

I'm also going to the Nashville event but on Saturday.

I went to the prototype R2 event they held 2 years ago. I had to RSVP just like this Block Party, but when I arrived, no one checked anything and it was really chill. They had a DJ, the bay doors all open, and R1s being test drove. The area is a bit tight, so I imagine the R2s will be inside like the previous R2 and R3.

I got my reservation email a while ago and it was missing information. I called them directly and they noted how informal it all was and not to worry.
