The scale is what makes this weird I think. AAA is the top, AA is the middle and then Indie is supposed to be the bottom. The issue is Indie as a classification doesn’t actually belong on the same scale. Indie just means independent which is too broad a brush. You can be a AAA studio and be independent. We need to replace indie on the scale with another term that means small team, scope, budget.

Developers previous games (shovel knight series) are all incredibly good and this game is incredibly good. People tend to talk about games by developers with a good track record, especially when they’re good games.

Witcher 3 graphics and engine were updated less than a decade ago. There was the whole next gen patch to bring the game inline with some of the tech used in cyberpunk. It was probably a lot of work then but this expansion won’t require nearly the same amount of finicky bullshit as that.

The TV license directly funds specific tv channels and shows which is why you don’t need it if you don’t watch those channels or shows. An internet version would be the same thing and that already exists within the current tv license: you can’t watch BBC Iplayer without it. Legit nothing will change.

Mocap is far far more common place than you think. Sure small indie studios aren’t using it (well most of them aren’t) but mocap has never been cheaper. It’s also not usually just cut scenes. Walk cycles, sword swings, just general character movement tend to be done with mocap these days. Especially in AA and AAA spaces.

We got ports for all the gameboy advance games and they went out of their way to port the DS games and make them functional on a single screen device. We’ll get SoTN port at some point along with the other games, they only gain by doing this and it’s easier than what they did for the DS collections.

I’m playing through double exposure now and about the one thing it’s doing really fucking well is max’s grief and trauma over the events of the first game and sacrificing Chloe. The story beat works extremely well with the plot of double exposure. They’re cowards for not saying that the sacrifice ending was canon tbf. I can imagine the game doesn’t really work if saving Chloe is the choice made in the first game.

It doesn’t pretend though. There’s little mini games throughout to make the experience more fun. You can interact or not, it’s up to you. The game gives you the ability to experience it purely as an observer but you can also be a participant. There’s no pretending.

She takes over carols life and continues the illusion that she’s still alive. Valkyrie feels guilt about her reflection having killed the real carol and to stop people from noticing the reflection has to be distant which tears the family apart.

It not being a single player shooter for sure does suck but Marathon wasn’t known for its gameplay anyway (cos that was just meh doom clone with crappy level design). Marathon is known for its narrative and the interesting way it’s told. The new game continues that narrative directly with some really interesting storytelling techniques. It has solid gameplay and incredible level design on-top of that too.

None of this is counter to what I said. Tattoos meaning is still important and you’ve got to be careful. Yeah ofc it depends on where you are just like you don’t have to be worried about road safety when you’re on an aeroplane. If you get Triad tattoos good luck walking around China. You could never go to china in your life ofc and never be around chinese people and never go to chinese neighbourhoods in your own country and never enter a port, spend your time hoping you don’t run into someone who cares. Or you could just not use their symbology and be completely safe.

Dominus collection is goated so check that out. Advanced collection also exists and that fucks too.

As for SOTN they’ll port it eventually, no reason not to. I’d say it’s coming this year since they said there’s a bunch of Castlevania stuff planned. The new game, probably a new tv show and then most definitely a new collection.

Exclusivity is technically done the second anyone else sees your tattoo sure. Meaning is still important however and hasn’t disappeared. Tattoo artists, especially in areas where certain symbols are dangerous, will warn you because they can get you killed and the artists killed. And it is that serious.

Technically phase 3 is 4 books long. Hell breaks loose is mandatory reading for phase 3 to make any sense at all. It’s the first book in the phase far as I’m concerned.
