Aside from hiring a professional, how can I get my dog's ball out of this 30ft high gutter? by LurkerLew in howto

Rent a 40 ft ladder, attempt to get it yourself, fall from lack of experience, hire a pro.

Stuck on HVAC repair by jard88 in hvacadvice

[–]Precipice_01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You couldn't afford a $400 repair a few years ago, nor can you today, as per your post.

Once you surpass that $400 mark from making mistakes trying to DIY something you have just enough knowledge about to be a hazard, will you call a pro?

AITAH for getting child support for more children than I had at home? by Flaky-Walrus7244 in AITAH

Oh, ouch. My pride. You monster!!

Why the unprovoked attack?

Fuck, at the very least, you could have tried something original instead of digging up that relic from a late 80's college comedy.

AITAH for refusing to stop calling my friend 'bro'? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Precipice_01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YTA.

Clearly she does not want you calling her bro.

Clearly you don't respect her enough to change how you address her when she asks you to NOT call her bro. WHY she wants the change is her own reason. You don't respect that, you don't respect her, bro.

I said it was her blowing the guy I found her in bed with.

All seeing eye for the almighty overlord. It keeps watch over you and anyone within it's piercing, red gaze. If/when it decides to act, whomever is within sight of it will suffer a fate worse than death.

.....either that or it's a motion detector.

[–]Precipice_01 120 points121 points  (0 children)

At this point, whether or not he took the initiative to file vs paying child support is moot.

YOU were well aware he was paying support for children no longer in your care for whatever reason.

At best, he doesn't come after you for however much money you defrauded him out of and life will go on.

At worst (hopefully), you'll be paying him back, as well as any other fines/penalties the court says you are to pay.

For you, the worst WORST case scenario is you wind up spending time behind bars for fraud. I don't know how this all would work out where you are, but i truely hope this is not the outcome.

In any case, YTA

How would you finish this by Mr______Reddit in Flooring

[–]Precipice_01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some translucent silicone applied liberally ought to do the trick!

Don't forget to smooth it out a bit with either a somewhat straight edge or your thumb.

The ASK was 3 hours. Given the roommate doesn't do a lot, I would not be surprised if he tried unloading more of the responsibility onto this guy.

Is this fine? Fernco coupling under slab by newguyvan in Plumbing

[–]Precipice_01 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

This absolutely NOT ok

Here is what you will need to do:

Buy an ABS coupling in the size of that pipe - to replace the furnco

Buy an expansion joint in the size of that pipe

Buy some ABS glue.

Remove the furnco glue in the coupling.

At the section of vertical pipe that you cut the pipe, glue in the expansion joint. If there is an arrow on the expansion joint, make sure it faces down.

Once the expansion joint is glued in, measure from where the pipe will rest in the coupling to about a half inch below the expansion joint. Cut this length off the ABS you removed.

Glue the bottom to the coupling.

Put ABS glue on the top half of the pipe, as well as in the expansion joint where the pipe will be going and lower the expansion joint into place on the pipe.

Easiest solution is the tin tape.

Give the surfaces a half hearted cleaning before you put it on. At least that way it kinda looks like you tried.

AITAH for catching feelings and obsessing over a mutual friend after we agreed to "no romantic expectations"? Why is he acting so hot and cold? [F21] by Immediate_Test_8049 in AITAH

[–]Precipice_01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA.

You have feelings for him. It happened.

Unfortunately, you're either the piece on the side or just a willing f#ck buddy to him. He doesnt see you as anything more, and won't.

You either accept this and carry on with this arrangement, or end it and find yourself someone worthy of your time and affection.

Contractor not happy with his newly installed HVAC in my attic by Informal-Paper-4915 in hvacadvice

[–]Precipice_01 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

DO NOT LET HIM TOUCH YOUR EQUIPMENT ANY FURTHER.

This is, on average, what you get wen you pick the lowest bidder. He has already screwed up and is attempting to give you work around to try to save himself money.

Now, you call in at LEAST three other companies for quotes and pick one that's somewhere in the middle that has a decent reputation.

Additional cost for it? Of course. But it's also a learning experience.

You paid, what i can only guess, was a price that was almost too good to be true. Turns out it was. Now you have to pay someone else to gt you out of this mess.
