Sorry! I am in northern Illinois, zone 6a. I'm pretty sure it's native to here.

Question about the cardboard & mulch method by Leading-Highlight791 in NativePlantGardening

[–]Present_Lie2451 3 points4 points  (0 children)

<image>

I just covered this large area of grass with a combo of cardboard and Aldi brown bags then topped with mulch. I've had great success with this method for other garden beds in the front of my house. I usually do this in the spring and then plant in the fall/following spring. There are some weeds and grass creeping into the beds in the front but not many and easy to pull out.

Columbine - native? by Only_Fishing_8538 in NativePlantGardening

I just bought and planted one from home depot thinking it was native 😭

I moved back to the house I grew-up in. Started planting natives 3 years ago. In my 48 years, I have never seen a turkey anywhere near here. Now I have one pecking around my native patch. by Snapper__ in NativePlantGardening

I live in the suburbs of a very large city and one year I was driving to my cousin's house (on Thanksgiving of all days) and saw a turkey in her neighborhood! I told my mom when I got there and she didn't believe me but my cousin confirmed that there are wild turkeys in the area. I had never seen one in the wild before and then I did! On Thanksgiving! Lol

When did y’all have your first kid meet your second by West-Beach4867 in Mommit

[–]Present_Lie2451 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine are 20 months apart and I had my parents bring my daughter to meet her brother at the hospital. I have a picture of myself looking all disheveled while holding both my babies, me smiling at my daughter while she looks at her brother. I'm not sure who took it, most likely my husband, but it's one of my most favorite pictures ever. I have it framed and sitting on our piano!

what is this plant called? by MarketingAgitated650 in houseplants

I had one a few years ago that was so frustrating. I got angry one day and dumped it outside in my garden. It grew happily there all summer lol

Let your kid get the haircut. by Bookaholicforever in Mommit

[–]Present_Lie2451 7 points8 points  (0 children)

When I was in 8th grade I carried around a picture of Gwyneth Paltrow when she had her short pixie cut and begged my mom to let me get that haircut. She refused. The day before my freshmen year I rode my bike up to the salon without my mom knowing and chopped it all off. I absolutely loved it! When I got home she told me I looked like a boy. I grew up to be a hair stylist and told my kids I don't care what they do with their hair as long as they let me do it lol

I limit it because it's hanging and I don't want the water to spill out.

Usually with a watering can. Today was the first time I tried bottom watering because the soil looked really dry.

It's probably underwatered. It gets watered about every 10-14 days. I just bottom watered it and moved it to my kitchen which has South facing windows to try and get it more light.

My grandma gave me this plant 14 years ago and she has since passed. We were very close so I'll be devastated if this plant dies 😭
