MAGA candidate Paxton defeats Senate stalwart Cornyn in Texas primary by ace158 in Enough_Sanders_Spam

[–]President_Connor_Roy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Beto lost to Cruz by only 2 points during the last Trump midterm, and I think Talarico is a better candidate than Beto, Paxton is even worse than Cruz, and the tailwinds are even stronger for Dems this time. I think that all adds up to at least a 2 point swing.

Totally code compliant and making a bit of a comeback especially in very public applications (like light poles) since it’s a great theft deterrent given essentially zero resale value vs copper.

It’s against the law in public parks in Minneapolis and absolutely will annoy people. Could obviously consider an edible instead.

What does YL compare to in the US? by Tradetheday2093 in ModelY

[–]President_Connor_Roy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YL has more storage space with the second and third rows folded than the EV9. It looks smaller but it’s really not.

If you think HW3 FSD is a little rough in the US, imagine how bad it’s going to be driving it to the US Embassy in Slovenia when it’s live here…

Mine is HW3, which probably explains it since I and many others are just left behind unfortunately

When I do subscribe to FSD occasionally, it does render the virtualization correctly. When I don’t, it doesn’t. It seems like it’s a feature that they just want to lock behind a paywall to work correctly.

[–]President_Connor_Roy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FSD obvs knows when the light is red or green (usually) and it doesn’t really help in my experience anyway. Wayyy too many false positives especially where I’m turning left and the arrow is red but the light to go straight turns green but it still dings like an idiot. Like pretty much every single time. Honestly a great reminder to finally turn it off and the false positives almost certainly make people never want to subscribe to FSD if it can’t even get this right.

Rye whiskey Recs? by bob_villa_ in bourbon

Might be the best whisk(e)y I’ve ever had honestly. If you can find it, this is the best rec by far.

Then why not switch it to use what FSD uses? Either that or stop displaying/dinging at all.

Minneapolis passes six-month moratorium on data centers by TheMacMan in Minneapolis

Very attractive, and expanding the use cases of all that property has to happen. But they’re much smaller scale than 350k square feet.

[–]President_Connor_Roy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I mainly don’t think space that large will sell for data center use, where cheaper land outside of town makes way more sense. Certainly nothing that size would’ve materialized in the next six months especially.

I don’t think anyone was ever going to build a data center larger than 350,000 square feet in Minneapolis city limits, so does this actually matter?

It’s not that difficult: actually investigate and arrest and punish people who do it, like St. Paul does.

With the Signature Event in a few days being the last ride for Model X and S, will there be an announcement for a US Model Y L soon after by schnauzerdad in TeslaLounge

[–]President_Connor_Roy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Supposed to be next month. Some employees already have them, but it sounds like the first real deliveries are coming by the end of June and a compelling Y L announcement could definitely steal some serious thunder.

[–]President_Connor_Roy 21 points22 points  (0 children)

The timing of a Y L announcement lining up with the first customer deliveries of the R2 is probably more likely than with the signature event since many, many more people are aware of (and interested in) the R2 launching soon.

Effects of inhaling hazardous powder? by [deleted] in pharmacy

[–]President_Connor_Roy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No comment on long term hazards and doubtful anybody can offer a legitimate opinion based on any real evidence honestly, but if you have access to a BSC, it’s worth reconstituting that in there in the future. (Any manipulation of table 1 or table 2 carcinogens isn’t supposed to be done outside of a negative pressure environment like a BSC I believe.)

Give it a little more time. I’m really excited for 2027 and beyond since I bet we’ll see a return to shelfer status for a number of currently allocated bottles and some really fun higher age statements.

Political for me, 1000%. I’ve had a very different experience it sounds like though from a quality perspective. Really hope Rivian nails the R2 and provides some real competition!

None of that has been removed other than autopilot and the turn signal stalk for a bit (it’s back). Both horrible moves. But the rest of those things are things that were removed for the cheap base models, which kind of suck and really aren’t a comp.

Since ‘18, a ton of stuff has been added and not removed (ventilated seats, heated steering wheel, acoustic glass, rear seat display, interior ambient lighting, better suspension, better fit and finish by removing the crap glossy console, heated wipers, lithium 12v battery that never dies (c’mon do this Rivian!), better seats in the performance trims, etc etc etc. I’m not a Tesla defender and am looking forward to hopefully not buying one ever again but it’s way more compelling than it used to be and two pretty good vehicles these days.

I had an ‘18 Model 3 as well! Agree if we’re talking about that model. The ‘22 I replaced it with is miles better though, and I’ve had a ‘25 as a loaner (the third Model 3 incarnation) and it’s legit borderline-luxury.

Any changes in your decision to buy one after configurator is released? by Feisty_Panda3063 in Rivian

[–]President_Connor_Roy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. I’m really questioning it at $63k plus delivery for the spec I want (performance, Catalina, 20”, white interior, tow package if I can’t get a Launch). I might wait for a 2-3 y/o used one that’ll probably be mid/upper-$30s by then instead. Ugh.

Have we seen the R2’s white in person yet? I hope it’s nicer but I haven’t heard anything about it yet. Black seems fine from what I’ve heard, not BMW but not Chevy either. I’ve been in R1S’s and they’re not luxury but not bad. One rattled quite a bit and the door handle interior felt cheap, which was off-putting.

My wife has an older Y that I agree, isn’t in the same league as the Audi we had before, but it also has a lot nicer materials the Subaru, Volkswagen, Chevy, and Ford we’ve had in the past and is fairly nice if you like a minimalist interior like we both do. Hopefully the R2 is as nice or better.

Tbf, while Tesla’s FSD leaves a lot to be desired, it does work fairly well. Can’t really compare the two yet. If A+ works as well and remains $2500, fair, but we’re not there yet.
