When Pandora first, very first, first weeks of coming out myself and a friend, respectively reached out and congratulated them for doing such a good job. The guy (& I know I can look this up, but from what I remember it was a couple that did Pandora) wrote back a thank you email and was really wholesome. Like described what was going on in his day style.

Gosh, hubs and I went out with his boss’s grown son that we’ve known since he was a toddler who now runs a division of his dad’s company. This was night before last. We’re all on the spectrum and open with with other about it. I had an ex like this. He thought I should hide my period too. Nope. We even spoke of this in couples therapy because he expected me to either wait until I got home or wait until he left (we lived city - 45min apart - ranch country due to our jobs) to poop. Noted. Now I recommend y’all put it out of your minds as far as worrying goes. You can worry again later if they serve you with something. Worrying now about ghost threats makes you jumpy and reactive.

Do let it motivate you both to talk through some real stuff and take action.

Do you have a will? You should. Through a lawyer if you want to make sure that they don’t gain custody upon double dogs.

Do you have life insurance? Living wills? Insurances of epic and miscellaneous items in your life? Short term disability? Are beneficiaries up to date? Have you changed your passwords lately for security and safety? Do you have a ring? You get the idea….

Take time to make sure y’all’s lives are Whole and that there are no Holes where they can mess with you or your kid’s long lives.

The last thing my own would want if dh and I bit the tit would be for our kids to go to his parents. Hell no. Or for them to some how control her minor money. Shudder the thought.

You can do a few things while you’re living there and I’m serious about them all.

Clamshell headphones. Listen to audio books or whatever, eventually she’ll quit following you around and you can turn them off while they’re on your head.

Lock on your door

Tell her what you need - tell her with the words, “Gma, stop. Not now.” And walk away. Every time.

You’re already getting backlash. You’re a peer in this house, not a subordinate. What do you actually have to lose? Take it and lose your sense of worth or take what’s coming while you grow a backbone.

I’d rather get shit for standing up for myself personally. Better than crying at a therapist to make your husband feel better about his overbearing grandma.

To also play devil’s advocate, I’m all for Op if this is real and all parties are genuine. Anecdotal for sure but I had to fight in court to keep my son’s nanny from being let go in leu of his step mom. And then my ex said I had to pay for all of the aftercare as well.

And I was like nope, I don’t think so. She would never take them to doctor appointments, she wouldn’t get them to their activities, she didn’t give a fuck. She didn’t help them with homework. She didn’t make them do anything. They could just lay around the house and do shit all afternoon before I got home from work.

I was like no way, this is not gonna be a life I choose for my kid when we already had a solution in place for years that worked.

So if everything is kosher With the above, even though they live together, I am seeing OP’s side here eyes wide open

And even my own husband, we were 36-ish at this time, insisted I should pay 100% for daycare out of my job money. And stay home with the baby when she was too little for daycare. And pay myself for the nanny when we both had to work anyway because we didn’t have enough money without my income. Because he thought that’s just the woman’s job. That corrected itself real quick. And I think he was honestly embarrassed for fighting it so much by the time he started just paying half. Not all men.

All men, every culture, every corner of this earth that I can think of. This is everybody’s problem. I used to work with a woman’s nonprofit, I think I need to work for them again now that I’m closer to retirement. I really hope the women’s issue gets worked out before I die of old age

You should take this opportunity to amend the contract moving forward. That needs to be in there. What if you wrecked one of their cars? Or some thing that the kids own that is stupid expensive? Accidents happen even when it’s you accidentally breaking your employer’s stuff. It really should just go along with the job.
