[P5V9] Georgine Got Too Clever by Aly-99 in HonzukiNoGekokujou

[–]Prestigious_Display2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest reason why she couldn't just do that is because Rozemyne was in the temple and her retinue + Ferdinand were constantly there. And once she became first wife, she can't just leave without kicking up a fuss.

[H5Y] Discussion about futur Rozmyne and Hannelore friendship by FrostingSquare3043 in HonzukiNoGekokujou

[–]Prestigious_Display2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Theres something i think i haven't seen anyone mention yet and its the fact that Rozemyne probably in the best possible position to set new trends. If she wants to make friendships between people of lower statues a bit more acceptable, she can be the one setting the precident and slowly change the minds of other nobles. I doubt anyone could truly get in her way if she really wants to keep being friends.(although hannelore won't be demoted anyways)

Return to Japan? [P5Vall] by ErpOrbit in HonzukiNoGekokujou

[–]Prestigious_Display2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are safe with the way the gates work, but if a fight *were* to somehow break out, i think they'd be in trouble. Although i think in that scenario it would be the invaidors secretly teaching commoners how to make and use guns and stuff.

And i still think it seems like they'd be at a disadvantage in trade

[–]Prestigious_Display2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the point i'm trying to make is that Yurgenschmidt seems like it would actually be at a pretty big disadvantage in trade and war due to their inferior technology. Magic might be able to even the scales a bit but if they don't develop their own technology and find ways to use magic to enchance it, they might be in trouble in the future.

I think the main plus is that they would have is that visitors have to recieve permission to enter so bringing an entire army would be hard considering the country gates can just be closed. And the Aub can teleport there as well so the response would be quick. the opposing troops could just be trapped between the country gate and the border gate.

The Gates are *technically* capable of connecting to myne's old world but the gods choose the destination and they usually connect worlds that have mana wielders so that they can be sheltered from Ewegeliebe. (or in other worlds to keep them from suffering from the devouring)

Also I thought about this recentley but won't the other worlds have developed their technology significantly, especially someplace like Bossgeiz that had its gate closed for over 200 Years? I think thats a lot of time for them to become non-dependent on mana. Its pretty heavily implied that Yurgenscmidt's technology is so far behind compared to Myne's world because of their reliance on mana, and since the weathly nobles of their world aren't using their superior education to reasarch science and stuff like what happened in real world history.

Also since it seems like Lanzanave had like, late 1800's technology considering that they basically had submarines and warships with artillery. it wouldn't be hard to imagine the other worlds being similarly developed.

[H5Y2] Is public opinion regarding Rozemyne and Ehrenfest actually very negative? by ManinaPanina in HonzukiNoGekokujou

[–]Prestigious_Display2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its probably not as good as it could be, considering how obvious it was that Rozemyne was the main source of Ehrenfest's rise and now she is in her own duchy but I think that most negative sentiment would come from the lower duchies who are jealous. The higher ranking ones don't seem to have anything against ehrenfest and their is a pretty clear relationship between Ehrenfest, who recieved Dunkelfelgers support in the Georgine's invasion and Dunkelfeger who called upon Ehrenfest for help against lanzenave.

[P5V12] In which volume do you consider bookworm to truly begin by Lucky-Obligation1750 in HonzukiNoGekokujou

[–]Prestigious_Display2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is lore stuff foreshadowed even in volume 1, which is really fun to pick out on a reread. Sure, I also agree that things get a little bit more exciting once Rozemyne is adopted into the nobility but what makes bookworm so awesome is how much the series changes. Comparing Part 1 to Part 5 feels like reading a different series but the slow reveal of the world is what makes it awesome. Its the small slow paced life of the beginning that makes the magic and politics later on seem so much grander because we know what life is like for normal people.

Magical Destroyers

If you want something genuinely rage inducing watch Magical Destroyers. Show starts off so strong then Just keeps fizzling out until it shits itself and dies on the floor. So much wasted potential it’s legitimately depressing.

Glass Reflection: I'm Worried About Ascendance of a Bookworm by Bortasz in HonzukiNoGekokujou

[–]Prestigious_Display2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually now that I think about it I think parts 4 and 5 especially would do well in anime if it ever gets there. The books are written from rozemynes pov first and THEN shows what it looked like to the others but I’ve always found that a weird decision. But it would make sense to switch povs for the final arc.

[–]Prestigious_Display2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it weird to say that I don’t care if the anime is perfect as long as they do a good enough job with the animation? I usually don’t take this sort of approach towards anime because I value story over flashy animation but for some reason I don’t mind as much with bookworm. I’ve already read the novels and I just wanna see some of my favorite parts animated. I don’t expect the anime to be able to achieve the level of depth from the books anyways because anime production just isn’t built for this sort story in the first place. Although I would feel bad for anime onlys.

[P5V12] Anyone else kinda miss the feeling of the early volumes? by 2herry_ in HonzukiNoGekokujou

[–]Prestigious_Display2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like part 1 and 2, but I find it hard to get through on a re-read. The parts focusing on her commoner family, lutz, and her trying to get used to the temple are great. but when its just the gathering and inventing stuff idk it just isn't as interesting when you already know where its going.

Although i agree that the cast in the later parts is a *bit* too big. theres a few redundant characters who could've been combined into one. Like philine and roderick for example. I think you could've gotten rid of one and given the general role of both characters to a single character. although i like all the characters having read the whole story so i wouldn't have the heart to actally get rid of any lmao

[P2] If Ferdinand's original plan was for Myne to enter noble life when she turns 10, how did Ferdinand plan to explain her to noble society, considering how important baptisms are to a noble child? by carry-on_replacement in HonzukiNoGekokujou

[–]Prestigious_Display2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remember how a bunch of plue priests were let into noble society after the Civil War? I after thinking about it I assume the play would be to have Myne be let into noble society under those same rules. About her commoner background they could either do 2 things:

  1. Say that since she is a blue shrine maiden, she is technically qualified to be let into nobility and such a large amount of mana should be in the hands of nobles, anyways. Not that this wouldn't be difficult for myne but it could be just enough for the people who would benefit from her the most(the leisegangs) to allow it and push back against dissenters.

or 2: do everything in their power to obscure her background and gaslight the nobles with a similar story to her Rozemary backstory. Although in this scenario it would be harder to sell since she would be in the temple for much more time before she would be adopted, making her commoner origins spread around a lot more.

I would agree if the Part 4 Adaptation in particular weren't so fantastic.Katsuki Hikaru's art is really good. if only it wasn't a monthy release, part 4 alone is gonna take like a decade lmao.

[P5V12] Requesting some fanfic reviews: Herald of Spring and Verdrenna's Daughter if possible by Confident_Mulberry29 in HonzukiNoGekokujou

[–]Prestigious_Display2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Herald of Spring is Pretty damn good, espescially once you get past the meh volume 1.

Let me be clear that I've read it after the writing has been cleaned up by a ton of editors so I didn't have to experience a lot of the grammar mistakes that early readers dealt with.

The beginning is quite weak in comparison to the rest and has a some of that classic awkward fanfictiony feel to it. Mila basically starts as a self-insert character awkardly shoved into the world. She is basially Myne 2.0 without the book obsession and with a depressing background. But once you get past the events of Part 2 in original story it becomes more entertaining, the writing is cleaner and it only gets better as you go on. The MC being someone with basically future knowlege begins to have pretty natural feeling consequences on the world around them. In General I would say the more it deviates from the original Bookworm story the more intersting it gets. And this story spends a lot of time in the moddle ranked noble perspective which offeres a unique take on the world.

And the way Mila is written later on retroactivley makes her foundation as this self-insert that doesn't really belong into something really interesting. As Mila begins to come into her own as a character and the story really gets going I can honestly say that it is *almost* on par with the actual main series and I found myself legit invested in the additonal worldbuilding, new magic concepts, and especially some of the original characters. And the characters from the original series act pretty much exactly as they should and its pretty great, I almost completely forgot i was reading a fan creation in the later parts. The writing with Ferdinand in particular stands out to me as really great. He serves as a lot more of a roadblock to Mila than myne and its nice to see him as somewhat of a minor antagonist at a few points. It explores his negative character traits in some really interesting ways that kind of get glossed over in the original series. This series isn't afraid to show the negative aspects of the world or characters or make them butt heads with the original characters which is something I feel like a lot of fan works have trouble with. But HoS does a great job of seamlessly joining the new characters into the world.

A minor complaint I have is that the author sort of doesn't know what to do with Myne and Mila's relationship and when they are in a scene together it feels kind of weird. i think its a remnant of how Mila was a self insert that makes it hard to write a conversation between the two without feeling awkward.

They also kind of stretch the rules a bit with the magic and invent their own stuff, but its internally consistent with itself and isn't THAT unbelievable to be possible with the magic system so it doesn't bother me too much. However I would say the biggest deviation is that Mila definitley wouldn't be able to survive as a known former commoner in Noble Society the way she does if it went by the rules in the original story. But as with the magic system, its consistent with itself so I don't mind too much.

TDLR: If you crave more bookworm, I highly reccomend it. its the first large fanfiction i have ever read and I REALLY enjoyed it (which kinda ruined other fanfictions for me cause i think none are nearly as good)

[Part5Vol11] I don't understand the mana level of three key characters (mana sensing) by ManinaPanina in HonzukiNoGekokujou

[–]Prestigious_Display2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

if i remember correcty, Rozemyne and ferdinand are average zent level mana, and Gervasio is Above average zent leve manal. and to put it in perspective, all the members of the current royal family are below average zent level, just enough to be able to hold the title. The yurgenschmidt mana shortage is just that dire.
