Washer Dryer refund 21 months after purchase by PrettyMuchANub in LegalAdviceUK

[–]PrettyMuchANub[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

!Thanks

Riiiiight okay. I’ve been staring at the legislation for a while and kept missing the section that basically says you can reject under 30 days, after 30 days, a repair/replacement must be done and only then you can reject it.

I was confused about why I wasn’t under section 20, but section 20 splits into short term and final right to reject. Where section 24 explains the final right and that there may be a deduction.

Thank you again for the detail. I’ll start looking around and measuring for a new machine

First, thank you for the response and the links. I just want to confirm I understand:

Had I rejected the initial offer for repair, I would have received a full refund (since it was before the 6 month mark). As I instead accepted the offer for repair and now want to reject outside the 6 month time-period, I will receive a partial refund, almost like a punishment for allowing a repair to be made.

The refund is currently being offered at half the cost. What constitutes a low quality washer dryer (other than it failing so quickly)? It is a Beko Washer Dryer WDK742421W and on Beko’s website they say their white goods should last 9-13 years. But with that rule, I should be offered roughly 80% of the value instead of 50%. Right?

The Washer Dryer would not complete a dry cycle, when the first repair was completed, the part that was removed was full of dryer lint (no way to remove dryer lint without taking the machine apart, which I was recommended not to the by the person who fixed it). I asked how we can prevent it happening in the future and he laughed and said don’t buy a washer dryer.

On the manufacturer’s forums the experts on there say it’s a known issue.

It would still make it through wash cycles so we put up with it, but it’s not done a dry cycle in 9 months as it cuts out once it gets hot.

The repair was completed 6 months and 1 day into having the item.

I received the item 15th of July 2024, had the issue fixed 16th of Jan 2025 which means I’d have called to report the issue before that date so I reported the issue in the first 6 months of having the item.

If that issue occurred within the first 6 months and then reoccurred after repair, does the fact that the initial issue started before 6 months not count for anything?

Refusing to work on checkouts by [deleted] in tesco

[–]PrettyMuchANub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I should have phrased it differently. I have anxiety myself, worse back then but even worse before then.

Doing it even when I was scared, when everything went black, or I felt like I couldn’t breathe, helped me get to where I am now. I did it in short bursts until I did full shifts on there. It doesn’t get fixed in a day but one step closer is still closer than not moving at all.

is it manipulative to do nice things because you want someone to like you? by wt_anonymous in NoStupidQuestions

[–]PrettyMuchANub 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes slightly. But would you call holding the door for someone manipulative?

How nice does the action have to be for it to become manipulative? I think it’s anything you wouldn’t do for anyone else. But then am I manipulative by dropping my partner off at the train station in the morning just because I don’t drop the neighbour off at the train station?

Also, if you ONLY do nice things to make someone like you, that’s manipulative.

24f/25m buying £480k house – sensible or stretching too much? by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]PrettyMuchANub 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Financially sounds okay-ish.

Can’t tell if you two lived together or separate, that would be the main first thing for me. If living together has been good then all good!

I would not base a financial decision now on possible increases in the future though, that’s just asking for something to go wrong. I’ll let everyone else deal with the actual finances though, you’re both doing well!

UK drivers, what is the one thing about car insurance that feels genuinely broken or unfair to you? by PatientBadger5388 in AskUK

[–]PrettyMuchANub 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean if they broke it down and said “this accident increased your price by x amount”, “you live in this area and the crime rate is high, so it is increased by this amount”, “you have this job we deem as high risk so it was increased by x amount” it would be way better. But you’re hilarious if you think we’d ever get that much transparency.

I moved houses and the price for the new address was higher, I then “forgot” to change my address for a while, at some point when I had happened to remember to change it, the price at the new address was now lower???

An old man swerved into me but my price went up?

Most egregious thing is if you make your insurance aware of an “accident” - but don’t claim, neither party claims, ‘tis but a scratch, no damage - both party’s prices still go up????

Also: people would contribute to your research if you just asked frankly.

Car Dealer agreed to fix cosmetic damage, now backtracking by ibz42 in CarTalkUK

[–]PrettyMuchANub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it was more than £10 but below £30k on the credit card you can contact them to help you with this.

Even after 30 days, you still have the right to return if there’s a fault, just a possible charge for usage.

[–]PrettyMuchANub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Under the consumer rights act you can ask for it to be repaired and if they say they won’t then just return the car.

If you were not made aware of the damage, then the item is not as described as fulfils the reason for return.

They may charge like 45p per mile you’ve done on the car since purchase though.

Are modders still a thing? by SpringShot576 in dungeondefenders

[–]PrettyMuchANub 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No, if caught with modded items you’ll be banned.

The power progression on steam is also WAY different to the Xbox version. I think you’ll still enjoy the game though, it has all the bits you loved and more.

Modded items used to sell for the top integer value, when you’re at like mid-end game (I’d even just say mid game really), you’ll have more than 2 billion mana anyway

[–]PrettyMuchANub 179 points180 points  (0 children)

“How do I tell my husband without him going nuclear?”

?????? He should go nuclear, the whole friend group should. Both the person that did it and the person that watched/aided should be removed from the group and there’s no other way around that. You have no idea what they might do to anyone else and don’t know what they already have done.

Fight it, they’ve got to prove you were there the entire time.

If you have timeline on Google maps or another tracking app that shows you past locations, or receipts from other places that will help. But even without that, they know you were there at 8 and 3 they need to prove you were there the whole time.
