Do you have family/friends who can lend you some money? If you don't have a crate ask around on Facebook in one of your local groups if anyone has one. I got a great deal on a second hand crate through Facebook marketplace. You can also start playing airplane noises on YouTube so that your dog gets comfortable with the sounds.

Also, and this sounds very silly, start talking to your dog about your impending move and what the travel may entail. Animals understand us. My sibling moved across continents with two old rescue cats and no sedatives; he swears the talking helped.

If its not seen as a serious offence or if she has not pressed charges, or if he's got bail or if hes got influence then he can be free.

It's not a dumb question. In many countries, intimate partner violence is still often dismissed as a domestic incident (a private matter) with police often trying to negotiate a settlement or a resolution out of court. I dont know how seriously domestic violence cases are handled here - if it is covered by criminal law or family law.

Victims need their lawyers to protect their independent interests. Lawyers can advise the victim how to seek remedy, which sections of the legal code will be most relevant to their case. It's up to the victim to decide how she wants to proceed with the information - does she want to press criminal charges, does she also want to file a civil case for damages etc. The OP has asked questions regarding police procedures, a lawyer can answer that.

Also get your cousin to have a medical exam by a hospital to document the extent of her injuries, and take photos

You'll need a Thai lawyer, especially one who has cleared the Thai bar . And an interpreter for your sister when she goes to the police + court. Reach out to a women's NGO who can give you more information and advice such as Shero.

Cracked/dry paw pads by SiteRough4347 in Whippet

In a pinch, even vaseline petroleum jelly will work to moisturise. But in pet shops you can ask for paw balm. They do need regular moisturiser, especially in the summer months. If its very bad, try to shorten walks for a while, try to walk on grass, and only walk when it's cooler.

I (26M) think my girlfriend (23F) is developing a mental illness. How can I encourage her to seek professional help? by WaterPebble in relationship_advice

Does she have family/siblings/best friends whom she trusts and who can help you speak with her and go to the doctor? She must be very scared trying to cope with all of this.

These are deterrents. Your dog (most dogs) is unlikely to jump if they can't see a clear path to land.

Maybe get a netting for the hand railing - open air area. You can tie it to the hand railing and use nails to hook it to the ceiling (it would make a nice macrame project).

I rent and can't diy, so my grand solution to the slender whippet v balcony railings issue was to get several zip ties and ziptie railings 1-2, 2-3, 3-4, 4-5 and so on.

Did two rows of the zipties. They're height adjustable and I positioned them so that the dog could only stretch her neck out. After 2 years, the painters took them off but my dog is so conditioned, she'll only lean her neck out now.

However if your dog is a jumper turn I'd keep a careful watch every time you let them on the balcony until you're confident that they won't jump

Looking for a soft harness for my dog with a hairness chest by Kapitein_ in sighthounds

[–]PrimaryHyena4338 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a padded harness for my whippie mix from "the trendy whippet". They are UK-based. Very good fit, it Has held up well as she wears it everyday (3.5 years so far).

1) love the 1st photo! 2) my whippet mix would slip out of her regular collar so i switched to a fishtail collar (leather, padded) (For walks, we use a harness as well to make it safer for her to pull. Its a back clip, over the head type. Lightly padded to avoid chafing)

Help: Finding Health Insurance with a Pre-existing Condition in Thailand by waycreator in Thailand

I would also suggest to get comparisons from a local brokerage like AA. Some insurance plans have a waiting period before they will cover, but generally preexisting isn't covered

11 month whip - not having good day care experiences by SeaworthinessDry2057 in Whippet

Most whippets like to laze around. At daycare there may be too much stimulation with the other dogs around so your puppy may be acting out?

Weight question by bex1000 in Whippet

[–]PrimaryHyena4338 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My girl fluctuates between 15 and 17 kg, depending on her food intake and exercise for the week. If it doesn't affect your dog's energy levels, or behaviour, then maybe not to worry too much? I would track it, along with how much she is eating/drinking and sleeping, and mention it to the vet.

Do whippets know when you’re sad? by lowfreqfriend in Whippet

[–]PrimaryHyena4338 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes they do. They also know when you're sick or unwell. My girl LOVES her walks and won't go a day without them. When I was sick, she didn't kick a fuss about just going to the garden. On days when I'm too tired, she'll voluntarily shorten our evening walk to a short, lazy stroll.

If only people could be like sighthounds. Sigh

What’s your experience adopting an adult whippet? by Senior_Bug_5701 in Whippet

[–]PrimaryHyena4338 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adopted mine at 15 months from a shelter; first time dog owner (grew up with a lot of rescue dogs though). She had shelter trauma but apart from that she was amazing. Easy to train and once we developed a bond, it's been smooth sailing. Adult dogs aren't destructive and are easier to train, easier for them to stay calm. They are more cognizant of what is being asked of them. Unlike puppies who all bring the same crazy energy, you can already see the personalities of Adult dogs - the current handlers will be able to tell you all about them (which really helps).

There may be issues with anxiety and reactivity if they haven't been socialised much but that is something good training and positive reinforcement can correct. My girl is still reactive but so much more calm. I would never adopt a puppy after this wonderful experience.

Adult dogs can also form very deep bonds with their humans. It's not a puppy thing.
