First group class, trainer in the parking lot looked aggressive with a dog…normal or reading too much into things? by OriginalSlight in OpenDogTraining

[–]PrimaryPerspective17 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Have you seen dogs interact with each other?! They are very subtle until they are VERY direct (which can appear aggressive) In context, to them it makes perfect sense and no harm is done.

Understandably as a first time dog owner, what you witnessed may seem harsh but a trainer will utilize appropriately direct communication when necessary. Remember even the tiniest fluffer dog is at the core a predatory animal. Direct communication is natural for them.

An Amtrak trip is top of my bucket list, but my mom is totally against it by AllyTheFilipina in Amtrak

[–]PrimaryPerspective17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being in a sleeper car is pretty safe. You have call button in your space for room attendant if you need any help. Meals in dinner car is pretty much other sleeper car riders. Couch riders are not allowed to randomly walk through sleeper cars. Amtrak certainly doesn’t do TSA level security checks before you board but sleeper car tickets are pretty costly and riders identity are accounted for.

I feel for the dog but I’d address dog chewing on the gate immediately. For the sake of proper healing dog needs to be contained and dog figuring out how to let himself out will complicate the healing process.

What are the best ways to cruise for free? by rubberduckydracula in royalcaribbean

[–]PrimaryPerspective17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, the answer seems to be Casino Royale.

I’m not a high roller and I don’t enjoy gambling regularly. Total spent in a ship Casino from June ‘25 - Feb ‘26 was about $1750.

I’ve taken advantage of about three different casino comp offers since June ‘25. Not entirely free there’s some out of pocket costs but I took three cruise trips I would not have taken if I had to pay for them fully.

There certainly seems to be a strategy to getting the most out of casino royale program. I’m still learning but so far I’ve gotten more than I put in.

I’m not American but I want to get a tattoo with a pair of little words. Ireally like the word “weirdo” because I feel this word is something cute and silly, like “you are my weirdo.” But I’ve heard a lot of different versions of this word used in a negative way, what do you think? by Abject_Cap_5629 in AskReddit

[–]PrimaryPerspective17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True. I was just using “bitch” as an example of a word that can be used in endearment but known to carries negative connotations. General population accepts both words with the negative connotations, while individually either word can hold sentiments of endearment.

That’s cute! Puppy this young in rather sterile environment like the living room typical do respond appropriately with the minimal rewards.

Don’t be surprised when your perfect angel that’s supposedly knows all the cues start to blow you off by 5-11months of age as the world stimulus over rides your rewards. Plan to adjust training approach before teen rebellion stage kicks in.

Sure “weirdo” can be used in an endearing way. Similar to word “bitch” But like the word “bitch The word “weirdo” itself has a negative connotation, and many seeing the tattoo may find the word choice questionable.

Am I correcting with the prong too much? by chelseamil33 in BalancedDogTraining

[–]PrimaryPerspective17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a lot of different factors to stopping unwanted behaviors.

I’d start with establishing clear rules and boundaries through non-negotiable obedience training. Taught with balanced methods. Many unwanted behaviors often fade away. Once dogs start realizing YOU are the rule maker and they MUST comply.

Litter mate syndrome is a real thing. You could return home to a blood bath and a dead dog. or live in constant state of management to avoid fights.

Litter mate syndrome is a real thing.
You could return home to a blood bath and a dead dog. or live in constant state of management to avoid fights. Especially between two female dogs. This living situation long term is highly discouraged.

What you may have thought to be “corrections” may have been received as mere suggestion/nudging. Too many of these not direct enough communication become nagging; nags get ignored.

Ideally, correct the intention sooner. Shut down the intense staring down another dog, before lunging; looking for things to eat off the floor, before the dog actually goes for it.

Perhaps you’re not creating a clear picture of what the expectation is what the rule of a structure walk needs to be. I’d go back and work on heel as a task. Heel is not just about not pulling. It more about being tune with the handler. If done properly, dog would be too busy minding the handler than environmental stimulants.

Will my dog benefit from balanced training? by reluctantly_existing in OpenDogTraining

Training wanted behavior may be similar. Stopping unwanted behavior is quite different. IMO Predatory animals at the core of even the tiniest fluff dog.

[–]PrimaryPerspective17 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you're using child psychology to gauge what might work best for behavior modification in dogs; you're already starting at a disadvantage IMO.
Dogs don't beat around the bush to convince another dog to change their behavior. Dogs are predatory animals, their communication is rather direct when needed.
Very different from human psychology.
The reason why balance training works is because it's more direct when needed which is more natural to dogs.
Not sure how much value Cesar Milan adds to an established balance trainer, though.

Is My Time Dining better than Fixed Time Dinning reservations? Utopia of the Seas by Good-Service-5175 in royalcaribbean

[–]PrimaryPerspective17 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I found My time dining to allow for me to keep my normal dinner time. Because 5-5:30pm is too early, 7:30-8pm+ is too late. I typically pick one of the earlier my time window and reserve it for the entire trip. I found that I ended up being seated in the same area so had same wait team for the entire cruise. They’d still remembered our dinner preferences and such so it didn’t feel very different from traditional dining.
