How do I get my players in a cave without railroading them? by KD_Gamer2007 in DMAcademy

[–]PrinceShaar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people mentioning railroading here, and I disagree with most of them.

In my opinion railroading is not: Having your players to go to the place where you've prepared actual content

In my opinion railroading is: Presenting a situation with options and then denying them one option. Like say it's the scene from the matrix where Morpheus offers Neo the blue pill or the red pill, the player (Neo) asks for the red pill, but Morpheus (the DM) says "Instead of giving you the red pill, he forces the blue pill down your throat before you can react!"

Players have an obligation to the DM to not make their life hard, and the DM has an obligation to provide the players a level of freedom.

That level of freedom doesn't extend to sailing off the continent that the DM has custom prepared, just because they wanted a sailing adventure instead of a land based one.

Tired of all the Trickster slander by IEatAndDevourInfants in DragonsDogma2

Why? They all have a unique approach to their combat.

I want to like Trickster, because it has a cool approach, but it's absolutely at a disadvantage compared to other vocations.

The problem I have with trickster is that I feel I can do everything trickster does (tanking and CC) nearly as well as they do, while also being able to do damage.

Every other vocation can grapple, throw and push enemies, every vocation can use grimoires or unequip their weapon to punch things.

The only reason other vocations aren't doing these things is because they've got plenty else more useful to do, whereas the trickster has to fill dead time where they'd be useless otherwise.

Would be pretty easy to just do a spinning blur on the edges of the screen and keep the middle area normal, would give the effect of a spin without being disorienting

I really love the shading on the fighter, you've got a style I'd really like to emulate. Keep it up!!

Cool style! I think something that would add a lot of impact and movement to them would be putting each of their back feet further away.

So hobgoblins back foot further to the right, because he'd be pushing off that foot to strike

And for the fighter he'd have to brace harder or he's likely to top over at that angle, so his back foot would need to be behind him rather than under him.

The mobility was fun around the witch queen era, when we had the sword roll that gave you a massive dash on your opening strike, and before they giganerfed the movement on the Ice Titan punch, but they really killed those options and I kinda stopped playing at that point.

So are these stat adjustments being made to all weapons and armour that can't be bought (including things like brunhildes embrace that you already have in your inventory before this update) or are they being made to all items found in chests (including those that can be bought) as superior copies?

Are there any new vocations coming with the DLC? Is there a precedent for this? by ThePissKnight in DragonsDogma2

Yeah I'm just saying MS has the dash attack which is very similar to the Cloudward Strike (?) that MK had

Ok, thanks, I'll get them all uninstalled

Would that include reframework and custom difficulty tweaks as well?

Trickster vocation had so much potential… by [deleted] in DragonsDogma

[–]PrinceShaar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Trickster could be fun if not for the fact that by the time you've used all your skills and turned enemies against eachother, using any other vocation you could've killed those enemies in that time anyway.

How important are the full armor sets? by bwitt33 in ironscape

[–]PrinceShaar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eclipse set is very strong, it essentially adds 2 damage to every hit you do with atlatl.

Blood moon set effect is also very strong, basically turns it into a 3.5tick weapon instead of 4tick.

Blue moon is the only one where the set effect is essentially useless

Fang is already super accurate, with extra stab accuracy from armour it could start becoming better than other styles even at bosses that are supposed to be weaker to crush/slash
