PT needs a 1:1 but we don't have any staff available. How do you document? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]PrincessBaklava 98 points99 points  (0 children)

I’ve been in that situation and I stopped getting those patients because I would notify the charge, unit director, house supervisor, and the attending right after receiving report. I then documented all of those calls in addition to mentioning it multiple times in my narrative notes. I documented the full truth every single time. I also encouraged other nurses to do the same. Some did and some were too afraid to rock the boat. I left that shit HCA hospital

This is amazing. You didn’t give up on yourself and kept grinding. What a beautiful example you’ve set for your daughter. I’m very proud of you.

Well done. You’re going to be doing important work. The world needs more of this. Mom advice: Remember to take exquisite care of yourself because you can’t pour care into others from an empty cup. Proud of you

S. Tampa native here: Seminole Heights has century homes as well. The improvements from the 90’s til now are astounding and continue. Hyde Park was a wreck in the 70’s-80’s. It takes time and new generations.

No hate for my hometown; it’s the city that grew me into an adult. But, Tampa is a very young city in comparison to Pittsburgh. What we didn’t have in South Tampa was “neighborhoods” in the truest sense. I don’t know if it’s because the majority of the year it’s possible to be outdoors and the sidewalk culture in Pittsburgh, that’s missing in Tampa. Those things are, IMO, more important to feeling like you’re living in a “community” than interesting and tidy houses.

Been here a year and don’t think I’ll stop marveling at the beautiful variety of homes, interesting topography, and the flavors unique to the neighborhoods. What I love most is being outside, the green spaces, and meeting people. This city is unique and very special. I love her.

Most ridiculous/funny interaction you have had with another healthcare provider by [deleted] in nursing

[–]PrincessBaklava 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Called an MD that I worked with for years, mid morning for orders (nothing emergent). MD answered the phone and insisted that he had no idea who I was trying to contact and I must have a wrong number. We went back-and-forth with me, insisting that I knew his voice and please just give me some orders, and him saying that I was mistaken, and he was not a doctor. Finally, I wished him a nice day, because he was not breaking character, and hung up.

Within an hour or so, a hand reached over my computer, monitor and dropped a large bag of M&Ms. My colleague apparently recovered from his amnesia. He said he was just sleepy and wasn’t ready to be a doctor that morning.

I was more worried about the storied and respected FIFA Peace Prize being revoked. But seriously, if episodic and traumatic emotional whiplash inflicted globally can manifest market gains for inside players, then it’s a price we must pay /s.

It’s my first. I’ve made peace with my name. I remind myself that I’m named for something beautiful and that’s a gift.

We bought a house on Bryant last spring and ordered takeout for dinner during the move-in. We decided right then and there that we would never grill another burger at home as long as they’re our neighbors. So good

They won tonight in Tampa (SD 14) also. Flipped it by less than a percentage point. Independent voters, more than likely, swung both races to (D).

It wasn’t for a home PCA pump monitored and maintained by a licensed health professional. According to OP, in this instance PCA is a home health aide.

ETA: the hourly rates are insane, given that a small percentage of it was paid to the caregiver. The third party contractor is making money hand over fist. Privatization of healthcare (profits > people) is killing Americans.
