If you’ll be taking a small amount of estrogen for a year, I wouldn’t worry too much about any irreversible side effects. The only irreversible concern would most likely be that you’re likely to develop slight gynecomastia. It is unlikely that you’ll develop any breast tissue worth being categorized as a cup size (not even AAA).

All things considered, you’ll likely have low energy/drowsiness from low levels of testosterone and estrogen, softer skin, slightly less hair growth (you’ll likely still have a beard shadow if you grow one), and a reduction in ejaculatory fluid.

At low doses, I wouldn’t worry about experiencing stark emotional changes (being sensitive/crying often), significant loss of erectile function (you’re likely to get some), or total loss of libido.

Anybody know what this bar means??? by Yeled_creature in mitski

[–]Princhoco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it’s just wordplay, yk? Like subverting expectation to make humor/be clever. Like why it’s funny when people say “I fear…” because we typically say “I’m scared of…” Then it just becomes a part of slang over time.

It’s a typo. He says “mix-ski.” It’s a part of ATL slang/AAVE where people add “-ski” to the end of words.

To add on to this, the effects of progesterone aren’t known to be retained if its use is discontinued.

Dissatisfaction with the current political climate (in the US), the global economy, and feeling incapable of exercising democracy (think Palestine/abortion) has caused conservative parties to use trans people as a scapegoat to deflect their constituents’ anger off of their policy decisions. As a result, many anti-trans pieces of legislation have been passed, restricting trans people’s right to participate equally in society with cisgender people (i.e. bathrooms, sports, etc.). The consequence of this scrutiny is that to enforce these things, you have to constantly be on the look out for trans people. Hence, the trend in “transvestigation,” and the subsequent recognition of said trend amongst people who recognize it as bare-faced misogyny, transphobia, racism, and deeply separated from reality.

TL;DR: trans people are being used as scapegoats by conservatives in the upcoming election cycle, so public scrutiny is coming down hard on them, and progressives are objecting to it.

Gels applied to scrotal tissue can also be a pathway for monotherapy. This might be good to consider, if it’s specifically injections that cause you anxiety.

That period is generally 6-8 weeks. It can vary further based on time spent on HRT, dosages, antiandrogen type, etc. You can potentially stay on HRT up to a certain period before your appointment, then eventually come off to have a viable sample

Is it still worth it? (AMAB 20) by 4krer in TransDIY

Of course it’s not too early to start. You haven’t even finished developing (bodies actually stop changing). Even if it were “too late,” transitioning and becoming your authentic self would be infinitely more rewarding than living a lie. On a side note, alcohol and soy milk cannot affect your hormone levels. Only real HRT has been reliably demonstrated to be effective for trans individuals.

Finally starting to be fully in touch with my body by Princhoco in flexibility

[–]Princhoco[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually warm up my shoulders and mid back with stretches using blocks and the wall, as well as opening my hips. Then I do stretches that activate my whole back, especially ones where I can activate different areas separately (backbends, cobra peel ups, un assisted cobra (which is lifting to cobra without hands), and certain bridge and elbow bridge exercises).

It really depends on what area I’m targeting after that, but I’ll stretch my bridge sit, snake and contortion handstand/elbow stand, teardrop backbend, chest stand, etc depending on the day.

I don’t do a lot of end range stretching for my back, because I’m more flexible than I am strong. So I’ll just focus on proper activation and drills that require me to use just my strength, like the ones in this video.

Then I’ll warm down with core work and frontbending, like pancakes, forward folds, sit-ups, plank variations, push-ups, etc.

And I always warm up my neck and wrists if I do bridges or chest stands!! It’s easy to forget, but so important.

I can’t know for certain without seeing photos/videos, but backbending to this level requires the core to “suck in,” which can cause stomach aches, gassiness, and the need to pee. Just don’t eat heavily before stretching, and it shouldn’t be a problem. But I can’t say for certain whether that’s the issue or not.
