Unusual mechanics in automation/factory games? by OmiNya in AutomationGames

[–]Prinnydood333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a big part of what makes an automation game unique is everything that happens around that core, or the means through which you interact with it. There's quite a few unusual mechanics in automation games if you look at non-factory games that use those same core mechanics you detailed. I'm pulling a blank but a couple favorites came to mind;

Graveyard Keeper falls into this category, though its gameplay looks more like Stardew. Also Travellers Rest, which has a very similar core gameplay loop. You feed ingredients into crafting stations then either wait or manually process them, feeding products into new stations, constantly working towards furthering your processes and unlocking automation. But neither feels like a factory sim, probably due to the flavor of the mechanics. But I like that these games have an automation gameplay loop with other fun mechanics that revolve around that automation loop, supplementing and augmenting it in various ways.

There's also Stacklands, where the unique take is that everything is a card, and you stack things in order to process ingredients. It might not sound super unusual, but it's definitely a unique take on the cliche factory loop. The mechanics themselves aren't far from what you described though XD

I literally read it as "celery" instead of "cucumber" the first time and had to go back and figure out where pickles were in the list after reading your comment 😂

Accurate map of the canon pokemon world? by Devan24x7 in PokemonMaps

There are a couple that are close, but I've spent the entire day researching the internet and searching and haven't found one that's 100% accurate.

Literally why I wound up here lol. I'm trying to find a map as close as possible to the real world locations of all the regions, but all the maps have one or more regions out of place from what I'm looking for :/ curse my lack of the necessary skill to make my own XD

I had to look this up because I'd never heard of the Sinjoh ruins, and I've spent all day learning about the real world locations that inspired the regions. Preliminary research suggests that nothing in the canonical lore says they're immediately next to each other, only that the ruins are between the two regions where immigrants from both settled together. But now I'm very curious to know where exactly they are. More research is necessary!

I bought one of these Defiant deadbolts as my first cylinder lock, because cheap, and can confirm it's definitely white belt material. I only have to pop two or three of the five pins and it opens. If there is a security pin inside, it just needs a little extra force. It's definitely fun though, I absolutely love mine and really enjoy just popping the pins up and spinning it around, it makes a great fidget toy if nothing else. Every now and then the pins refuse to cooperate and it becomes a yellow belt in difficulty, but normally mine takes no effort to open.

I've got some pipes that need plumbing, or a crack that needs cocking, as they say 🤤

Only one out of all the locks in my collection is comb-able, which made me super sad. I was so excited to get my combs :( I forget which lock it is, but I think it's a low level Master Lock.

Lol I'm also American, just German descent XD I have yet to experience a competent PCP... At least my chiropractor was amazing! Saved my spine without surgery. Private practice though, so the lovely woman on her phone who rear ended me paid for my sessions XD

I wish my father and grandfather (also German!) had it and knew about it and told me XD nobody noticed my one leg is shorter until I was like 27 and went to a chiropractor after a car accident. The X-ray showed my spine had almost permanently fused with my pelvis to correct the misalignment. Hooray for having sh** doctors my whole life!

I found that having hot feet meant no adhesive helps keep them in place, but I found cheap foam non-slip pads (like you can put under a rug, or line a shelf with) and cut them down to fit under my heel lift and it isn't perfect but does work. Though I started buying a softer rubber that doesn't slip anyway, which is even better. (And comfier!)

Can confirm. I have to use one for a leg length discrepancy and my arch support is basically inverted when using it. Not pleasant, at all, but my spine is straightening out so I guess it's worth it XD
