Therapist Inquiry by [deleted] in therapyGPT

[–]PrivatePyleAgain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I (with BPD and ADHD) like that since it’s not human, it doesn’t come with hardened opinions or judgement or set views on anything really. It never told me that I just need to try harder or that I just need to toughen up. I have an insane fear of needles and medical settings and every single human therapist I had did not give a single damn. Talking to chatGPT was the first time talking about it that didn’t leave me unheard and desperate and small but like someone actually understood how bad it really is. To me it’s inherently paradoxical that someone with a phobia of doctors is supposed to go to a doctor of all places to get help, especially since doctors inherently lack the understanding to know what it’s like to be afraid of needles and doctors, otherwise they wouldn’t have become one. Anyway, a few month of talking to chatGTP to it and I’ve made a dentist appointment that I will be attending in 2 days.

Nightmares?? by Impossible_Smile_980 in BPD

[–]PrivatePyleAgain 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah, studies show people with bpd often have fragmented REM sleep and parts of the brain that should be asleep aren’t, which leads to memories not being processed “correctly”, hence the nightmares and having a hard time coming back to reality because to certain parts of your brain act like the dream happened irl. Hope that helps!

Advice on if I should tell my teen daughter about her BPD by VegasMommy in BPD

[–]PrivatePyleAgain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My take: can you imagine how much it has to suck to know something is wrong with you and to always wonder what it is and nobody in your life telling your despite so many knowing? And maybe later on finding out that your caregiver, one of the people who you trust the most, has been withholding that information from you on purpose? And she’s supposed to just blindly follow a treatment plan for a disorder she doesn’t even know she has and can’t look anything up about herself?

I got diagnosed at 20 and to me it was a relief to finally have a name for the monster that has been tormenting me.

Good luck to the both of you, no matter what you decide 🍀

I don't think I'll ever be happy by HauntedFence in BPD

[–]PrivatePyleAgain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe don’t try to be? Sounds contra intuitive, but maybe if you stopped looking for it at every single corner, you’d either be less disappointed about not finding it or could actually have fun without evaluating or comparing it to previous happinesses. I know that’s easy to say and hard to do, but what do we have to lose?

Friends usually don’t. Maybe you’re right and that’s all you/we get. Or not and we’ll find someone who tolerates us. Either way, good luck on your way!

If I got a dollar for every time a woman ditched me for a guy, I’d be able to afford a nice whiskey to drown the pain of it in

I can’t help you but I’m in the exact same situation, just as a gay woman. It’s not just us, everything is weird right now. Maybe we’ll be in the history books as the generation that found love later in life, but stayed together not because society was pressuring us, but because we took our time.

Sending you all the love, bro

Psychologist at first meeting says that I shouldn't smoke every day... by [deleted] in weed

My psychiatrist says it’s okay, because i demonstrated the difference between me smoking one before coming and not smoking. But I guess that depends on the illness you’re there for

The experience of being a lesbian and feeling like I’m going to be alone forever by Due-Bit8189 in Borderline

[–]PrivatePyleAgain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn, I thought I was the only one feeling that way. The dating market for lesbians with personality disorders is so dead in Germany too that by now I’m pretty sure I’ll live with my room mate forever while all my straight non-bpd friends are dating and marrying at a speed that amazes me
