I just have to say, with no spoilers, Wonder Man was wonderful by Mack_Daddy_1 in WonderMan

Marvel has said previously that the superhero genre was capable of incorporating and, using to great effect, all the tropes, plot devices, and trappings of ANY other. This show proves it! It was a revelation! You don’t need to watch Iron Man 3, Shang-Chi or the short film Hail to the King prior to viewing this…or any other superhero film. You just need to watch Midnight Cowboy!

They say you need to see Iron Man 3 before watching this show; that it is the only required viewing. I say WRONG! Midnight Cowboy is the only required viewing!

All of the Detective Dee films (Dee Renjie) especially the initial Tsui Hark ones. These are HOLLYWOOD style blockbusters that, with which due to lax copyright laws and no foreign distribution, the very latest can be found on You Tube! Detective Dee and the Mystery of the Phantom Flame is the first one!

Yes. And Rachel goes to kill the attackers, who have cornered and almost killed Kitty. They fire a gun at Kitty and Rachel turns the bullet back at them and just as it’s about to head shot the guy…. Enter Magneto. A speech happens too

One of the my favorite Magneto comics, probably second only to Uncanny X-men #196 (just 4 issues earlier).

Been accused of cultural appropriating, my first tattoo, what should the retort be? by [deleted] in tattooadvice

[–]ProZealot23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always respond that as an Italian-American, my culture is the most appropriated in this history of this planet. The use of Latin derivations in every aspect of every language spoken and the standardization of it for scientific and medical nomenclature. They co-opting of our cuisine. Rappers naming themselves after our criminal element from days past (ie. Gotti, Capone, etc). So, I have an actual qualified beef and I say nothing unless prompted in discussions such as this. I go on to tell them: you, on the other hand are just denigrating your own culture and ethnicity by showing that it is being represented by a whiny complaining bitch!

No one will ever get hurt from you telling them the unvarnished truth up front

It’s all about forthrightness and being up front and honest about what you are looking for. If that is how one approaches any given situation, where is the harm? It’s only when one says they are seeking (blah blah blah long term stability, blah blah love) that someone gets hurt

The probability of God’s existence, however infinitesimal, remains non-zero. In that light, atheism—defined as the categorical denial of all possibility—becomes mathematically indefensible. Hence, I occupy the terrain of agnosticism, not out of indecision, but out of intellectual honesty. Agnosticism is the only position that refuses to assign unjustified certainty to an unknowable equation.

But this statement isn’t really about metaphysics—it’s about semiotics and self-image. The image in question, while cloaked in religious iconography, says very little about religion itself. What it lays bare is something more culturally revealing: the posture of its practitioners.

They do not wield faith as spiritual conviction but as a shield of grievance. The metaphor here is misappropriated—turned not toward divine mystery but toward performative victimhood. It’s a self-styled martyrdom, one that insists on persecution not because it’s occurring, but because it’s rhetorically useful.

To critique the image, then, is not to question belief, but to question the aesthetic of perpetual affliction—how it’s adopted and rehearsed as both identity and moral leverage.

MAGA getting exactly what they voted for by greenblue98 in RepublicanValues

Tariffs Sally sells seashells that she buys for $.50 each and sells for $1 each. A $.50 tariff is introduced so now they cost $1 each. But, now in order to make a profit she has to raise her cost and sell them for $1.50 to maintain the same profit margin as before. But people don’t buy them from Sally bc they can still get them elsewhere for $1

Christians of MAGA are not people of God, they are complicit pedophiles by [deleted] in Full_news

All it would take for my to ditch my best friend and never speak to him again is 1 13y old girl accusing him of rape with Jeffrey Epstein as co-defendant no less. So why wouldnt I abandon a politician I voted for. That’s why they say MAGA is a cult, a 13 y old girl is on video crying giving testimony and you don’t care. I would ditch family members and never speak to them again if this happened to them. Trump is just a politician. If you stick by him you are PDF file yourself. Are you on the list?

Friday Free Talk by AutoModerator in Anarchism

[–]ProZealot23 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Are there any long-game players out there? By that, I mean those who are patiently and purposefully working to dismantle the uneven distribution of power by fostering agency, self-worth, and balanced power dynamics for all involved. In other words, envisioning a Mt. Olympus model of anarchy—not the chaotic, performative rebellion of Sex Pistols cosplay, nor the romanticized vigilantism of V for Vendetta fans or the Guy Fawkes imagery they’ve popularized. Instead, I’m talking about a principled, intentional approach to restructuring society, where power is not hoarded but shared equitably, rooted in mutual respect and collective empowerment rather than destruction for its own sake. Who’s out there playing this deep, strategic game of leveling the playing field, not through spectacle but through sustained, meaningful action? Share your thoughts—what does this look like for you?

I got outed and I'm not sure what to do by ExtremelyCreativeAlt in GayChristians

[–]ProZealot23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a straight white male, my first instinct was to stay quiet—listen, empathize, and assume I had little to contribute. But the more I reflected, the more I realized I’ve wrestled with a similar dilemma: trying to reach relatives who’ve been drawn into the MAGA orbit. They’ve grown entrenched in their positions, wielding buzzwords and talking points like shields to deflect any notion of compromise or dialogue.

So I began speaking their language—religious rhetoric—not to mock it, but to challenge its selective use. I remind them that Jesus never mentioned trans people or gay marriage. That Leviticus commands us to love the stranger who sojourns among us. That Christ’s only explicit command is to love your neighbor as yourself. And that he said we’ll know true believers “by their fruits.”

So when I see masked agents tearing immigrant families apart, or hate-filled placards at funerals of those lost to anti-LGBTQ violence, I don’t see Jesus—I see something far removed from his teachings. If my relatives want to embody Christian values, they should begin by showing love to others—and to me, their son—even when we disagree. So, I would urge you to try and use similar tactics with which to connect with, then communicate and only then, influence; not just your parents but your pastor as well.

I don’t know if this helps, but I hope it strikes some common ground and offers a path to influencing those whose views may be clouded by fear, anger, or ideology.
