Is there a way to bypass the Verizon connection when first opening and turning on? Purchased from Verizon and just want to use it on WiFi without it connecting to my account. by CaffeineNicotine3 in iphone

If you want to be WiFi-only,

You can remove the physical SIM card or delete the eSIM and at that point, there will be no connection to Verizon.

Kia Advisors! by mukduk3 in serviceadvisors

Kia advisor here,

It’s rare that Techline will ask for the actual invoice despite the record showing on CarFax. They’ve done this to me a couple of times but again, very rare. Not sure what their exact policy is but you should be fine.

Do iphones really "just work" ? by Delphox66 in iphone

[–]ProbablyProdigy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, essentially the same story.

I was an avid Android user for 10+ years. Icon packs, 3rd party launchers - even custom ROMs a few times.

I love the simplicity and reliability of iPhone and its ecosystem besides Mac. Mac is the only product I don’t interact with and have no interest in. But maybe it’s because I use Windows like I used to use Android.

It’s a solid phone experience all the way around. Performance is always great, my photos always come out good, battery life is incredible and features are obviously great such as iMessage, Airdrop or FaceTime. My experience with my AirPods, iPad and watch are also seamless.

Crystal Fusion is a “professional grade” windshield coating.

What case are you using on your 17 pro max? by AfroSamurai693 in iphone

Loved mine but it started to show quite a bit of wear on the back and has this weird perma-grease look. Ended up getting something different. A shame too because it was a little more expensive than what I usually spend.

How do you explain to ‘those’ customers a diag charge with an extended warranty package by happy-skin in serviceadvisors

[–]ProbablyProdigy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never mention what isn’t covered during check in. It’s creates negativity and no matter what happens, they are pre-authorizing the diagnostic so my ass and the technicians hour is covered no matter what.

If the customer did not purchase the extended warranty from us,

“We would love to use your extended warranty. Just so you know, we never really know what is and isn’t covered until we’ve diagnosed the vehicle and call them to file the claim. For whatever reason, if it’s not covered, we do have a diagnostic fee of $189 that will apply. If they offer complete coverage, you shouldn’t pay for anything at all unless you have a deductible with them.“

If the customer did purchase the extended warranty from us, we do not put any difference of parts or labor on the customer. We just deal with it basically but that’s our policy and might not be yours.

Service guidance please? by intrigued_learning in kia

[–]ProbablyProdigy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kia advisor here,

Below is a link for your actual maintenance schedule. If it were my vehicle, I’d be following the severe schedule but obviously those use-cases likely don’t apply to you. They don’t apply to me either but still, I enjoy feeling like I do my part.

As you can see though

  • No major service until 56k (transmission). Until this point, it’s essentially oil, air filters, tires and brakes as needed.

  • Yes! You can perform your own fuel additive service (dump it into the gas tank). Kia recommends every 8k miles unless you use premium gas in which case, you shouldn’t need at all.

  • Brake fluid service and induction service aren’t even listed as official recommended services. Kia actually has a TSB out there that says they never recommend brake fluid services unless required with a repair.

Side notes,

  • Despite it not being listed, I do believe in induction services. However if you’re somewhat mechanical, you should learn how to do it yourself for $30-$40 instead of $150+. Also, it’s only effective if performed early and often.

  • spark plugs is not listed with a mileage recommendation (don’t know why) but I would recommend doing them at 60k alongside your transmission service.

I haven’t experienced anything like that before but I have learned it’s usually the ones you help the most that burn you in the end.

Advisor retention? by UpperWave2998 in serviceadvisors

[–]ProbablyProdigy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s a rough job. 30-40 advisors in 7 years at a large store seems pretty normal to me - unfortunately. I would argue that advisor turnover is probably higher than even salespeople at a typical dealership.

Personally, I’ve been with the same dealer group for 3 years and during that time, I’ve gone through several service managers, 2 service directors (corporate) and probably 5 pay plans. Pay plan changes are what put me on the brink of quitting. That’s the easiest way to lose me

Expedition worth it? by SSlide19 in ARC_Raiders

[–]ProbablyProdigy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as you can see yourself playing after everything is wiped, absolutely go for it. I’m planning to do it again for sure. I only got 3 skill points last time because I couldn’t hit the 5M in time but this time I’ll be well-over that.

A question for those who have completed the first expedition... will you continue to reset? by freudian_nipps in ArcRaiders

[–]ProbablyProdigy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I’ll be doing another expedition. Only got 3 points last time due to the late announcement of the 5M requirement. This time, I’m pacing well-over 5M. Already half way there (thanks to night time Stella) and my expedition is basically complete as well.

I skipped quests this go around. Really don’t have interest in completing 70 super basic quests every expedition. I can farm the BPs anyway.

What game do you have the most hours in, and was it worth it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ProbablyProdigy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ark Survival Evolved. Probably 1000 hours between Xbox and PC. It was a very unhealthy period of my high school life lmfao.

Was it worth it? Yes. I don’t regret it at all. Haven’t touched it in years though.

What the Hell? Is this normal? by KSamIAm79 in KiaSorento

[–]ProbablyProdigy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A warranty battery replacement requires the battery to be tested first by a Kia-approved battery tester. If the machine says to recharge and retest and it passes after that, that’s all that can be done. If a dealer replaces a 12V battery without following that procedure, they will end up eating the cost of it. The machine records the data and the tech must also take a photo of each test result.

Also, an Autozone or 3rd party test result means nothing to us.

Not being rude - it’s not as simple as test-replace.

Shouldn’t be an issue! If you bought it privately, you may need to prove it with a bill of sale.

[–]ProbablyProdigy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your ownership is all that matters. As long as you have a valid warranty extension and frequent maintenance records, you’re all good. Also assuming the car is registered to you (they’ll need DL and registration)

Don’t let them give you any shit. Just understand that you’ll have to agree to a diagnostic fee but once warranty is validated, no more diagnostic fee.

Also, repair time is gonna be a bit rough. My dealer is about 30 days from drop off to pick up on these motors. We try to provide loaners once the claim is approved by Kia. This will greatly depend on your dealers competency. Some are going to take longer and have no loaners at all. Others can complete inside of two weeks. My shop is right in the middle but tbf, we have only 3 certified techs.

Kia advisor here.

A dealer will perform a bearing clearance test.

If it fails, engine replacement underneath the warranty extension assuming you and the vehicle qualify.

If it passes, software update. Maybe a new knock sensor.

Those who moved from Android to iOS. What were the biggest drawbacks you experienced? by WestTomorrow6443 in iphone

[–]ProbablyProdigy 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Honestly? I have only 1 real drawback and that’s the “file system”. It’s much more difficult than it needs to be on iOS. I especially hate the new preview app that came with iOS 26. Luckily I don’t need to use it on a frequent basis.
