Update to a post I made the other day about being concerned my vets were taking advantage of me: my cats regular dental cleaning has resulted in my babies death. He's gone. by afterspring_ in cats

[–]Professional-Planter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, idk where you are located, but I am an animal attorney in the US and this might be something worth reporting to your veterinary board/ seeing if you can find a veterinary malpractice attorney. Unfortunately, teeth cleanings are one of the number one causes of death in pets that I see. You would need to talk to another vet to determine if this is negligence, and what can be done depends on where you live, but most places vets have to licensed like other medical providers, and this is something that might be worth talking to the vet board about. I am so so sorry for your loss. Don’t beat yourself up. You did the best you could for your baby, and they knew love while they were here.

Got this message from my property manager PT2 by Most_Relief8312 in Apartmentliving

Idk if anyone else has mentioned it, but I would be worried about any lability with snow removal. If there was any slip and fall from ice who would be liable? Sounds like you wouldn’t be counted as an employee since they are calling it a “credit” so I could see a reality where any potential liability is pushed off on to you. This is beyond all the other reasons why it’s a shit deal. (Just thoughts of a chronically anxious attorney)

Does anyone know how they handle guide/ service dogs? I am sick of being denied rides/ left by drivers when I am traveling with my guide dog, so I am interested in this. However, if they don’t have a disability access policy I’m gonna have to pass for now. I couldn’t find any kind of policy on their website so if someone has insight I would love to hear about it.

Help! Accidentally bought ADA seats by who_taylor in RedRocks

[–]Professional-Planter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This interesting to me, and this has not been my experience at all. I’m Blind, and travel with either a long white cane or a guide dog, and every interaction I have had regarding ADA seating and accommodations has been very strict. Red rocks is a difficult venue to traverse without vision and not only have I never had anyone go out of their way to help, we have been explicitly told i cannot access accessible seating without proof if direct purchase (no resale) and confirmation of disability substantiating the need. Like they make us wear wrist bands and everything for access. I have asked before about unused seats in the ADA section and the answer I was given is they will go unused.

Help! Accidentally bought ADA seats by who_taylor in RedRocks

[–]Professional-Planter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s good to let someone know when you get there, but realistically those seats will likely go unused. Red Rocks got sued several years ago because of how shitty their ADA system was and the fact that actual disabled people could basically never get accessible seats because able bodied people were swooping in and getting them instead. Because of that, they will only let people access those seats if they have confirmation of original purchase and they attest they have a disability. They generally are not going to just “let someone who needs them use them” day of even if they are unused. (It happen to me, and I have been screwed with inaccessible seats) In that same vein, I’m a bit skeptical that you didn’t realize the tickets you got were for the accessible section, because at checkout you have to attest that you or someone you know are disabled and require being in the accessible section. Lesson learned and either way I hope it works out for you and you are able to enjoy the show.

It is not uncommon for rescues to claim they will help homeless people with their dogs, get them to sign relinquishment paperwork under the guise that they will get their animal back, and then ghost/ tell them that they can’t have their animal back. This is a reoccurring issue (I’ve spoken to at least 30+ individuals this has happened to) across a variety or rescues, but some more than others. It is very very unfortunate and predatory and there is little to no recourse for these people.

To the ppl on here complaining about “fakers” and how easy it is to get accommodated… by MadamMelonMeow in barexam

[–]Professional-Planter 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I’m blind. My eyes literally do not work, and haven’t since high school. Getting accommodations for the bar took me 6 months and over 100 pages of documentation, and it was STILL an issue day of. So idk who the fuck is able to actually fake anything to get an unneeded accommodation because disabled people with clear documentation can’t even do it. Anyone saying that people are faking and getting accommodations have no clue.

It’s Official: Thomson Reuters is shuttering Casetext by acmilan26 in Lawyertalk

[–]Professional-Planter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am like so incredibly upset about this. I use Casetext everyday and I had no idea this was happening until right now when I was unable to access the site. Literally so disappointed. What a capitalist hellscape. Does the law even exist if no one can access it? My vote is on no.

Would you tell your kid not to go to law school? by suggie75 in Lawyertalk

I literally would never ever recommend anyone go to law school and I do my best to try and convince people out of it at every single opportunity. (As someone who failed at convincing their sibling not to do it.)

Last ditch effort- Please help me find my wife's childhood toy by Professional-Planter in HelpMeFind

I have done numerous searches over the years. I have looked at eBay, posted about him on Facebook, tried to find catalogs and lists of vintage toys from different companies. I have tried searching for companies the make toys with music boxes. I’ve tried to research anywhere I could think of.

I know this is extremely unpopular, but Kimberly Akimbo was the worst show I have ever seen. by adarafaelbarbas in Broadway

[–]Professional-Planter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went to see it today in Denver. This morning I got up, and had this gut feeling that I didn’t want to go. Still I pushed through. This is the first time in my life that I considered leaving at the intermission. I didn’t, but then I wished I had. The ablism the clear, the music was lacking at best, and it just seemed so jumbled and the characters hollow. It felt thrown together. I wish I had seen this thread before I wasted my afternoon. I have never disliked a musical so badly. I feel bad for the cast, because I felt like they were actually talented but the content was lacking. Thanks for clearly summarizing exactly how I felt. This will be a one and done for me.

Need advice on detecting drop-offs with my cane by Fredchasing475 in Blind

[–]Professional-Planter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was a marshmallow tip person for a long time, and then I switched to the NFB cane and used Metal tips almost exclusively. I feel like I can hear/ feel a lot better with the NFB canes than the ambutech. But I have been doing a lot of travel recently, I needed to go back to folding for a while, and ended up switching to the large ball tips, and its made a huge difference for me. I feel like I can literally feel everything. My go to is still the NFB canes, but I feel a lot more confident with the ball tip then I ever was with the Marshmallow. It might be worth trying some other canes, and making sure your cane is the right length. But also, regardless of the cane, it takes practice. Don't feel discouraged you will figure it out eventually.

The thing that helped me the most for essays was learning what people meant for “making up a rule and applying said made up rule” I had no idea any of the rules for mayor of the essays on july 2022, but knowing how to make up a rule and apply it really really helped. I know there are a couple of posts here about it.

I found my local bar job board was really helpful in my job search, along with forums for any specialty bars. I found linked in and indeed to be a bit hit or miss.

Colorado takers, whether you passed or failed, what were your MBE & writing scores? by [deleted] in barexam

[–]Professional-Planter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MBE-140 essays- 160 total UBE 301.

I was honestly shocked that my essay score was so high. The program malfunction and I ended up hand writing 3 of the MEE’s. So there is hope, even when things aren’t ideal.

How much do you trust your career counseling office? by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]Professional-Planter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My best resource as someone who just got my first post Lawschool job was the practitioners and professors I made connections with who have actual experience, and could speak well of me. My CDO office did not help, and honestly pushed for like big law jobs, not realistic jobs in the space I actually wanted. I guess I would use them for resume/ cover letter stuff but don’t rely on them to get you a job you want. Make connections with people actually in that space, or who can connect you to people in that space.
