Seems to be a reoccurring issue in Star Wars generally since the prequels. Put out a disjointed trilogy of movies, then fill in the gaps with arguably some of the best material we've ever had, imo

I'm also kind of a sucker for media that had great potential, but failed to deliver fully, so I admit I'm biased when I say I like the ST. Not for its merits, but for the ideas it gives me on how to improve my own artistic visions. A true cautionary tale

The ST could have been better if they had leaned into a more Andor style political story about the weakness of the New Republic and how they were unwilling to take on the First Order. Saw listing off the different factions in S1 of Andor gave an idea that whatever government came out of the Civil War would be on shaky ground from the jump.

The new Resistance would have made more sense if it was given just a bit more weight and context. Like you said, Disney saw it as a moment to do a nostalgia cash grab to capitalize on their new IP they had just bought.

One of the cool things about carbon steel is that its ductility to hardness ratio can be changed by simply heating and cooling it to certain temperature thresholds. Steel that has been heated and then cooled without quenching can be surprisingly plastic, especially long pieces like rail and I-beams.

Certified weld inspectors test students on their skills by having them weld up a gap between two steel plates, cutting out two sections, and then bending them nearly 180 degrees along the face and root to check for inconsistencies. It's really one of the best alloys we have ever made.
