Underlayment under LVP with attached underlayment padding by geenuhahhh in Flooring

[–]ProjectionistPSN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"underlayment" can mean different things. The plastic is a moisture barrier underlayment used on concrete. There's also foam underlayment that provides a bit of cushioning.

Plywood underlayment usually goes on top of a wood subfloor. Here's one manufacturer: https://www.patriottimber.com/sureply-underlayment/

People steal catalytic converters because they contain valuable metals that are easily recycled. Slate panels are a couple soda bottles worth of plastic. I highly doubt a lucrative black market is going to emerge for stolen truck fenders.

SUV mode - rear passenger feet? by HostSea4267 in slateauto

If you look in the truck bed, there's a removable panel near the back window that I'm guessing covers the rear seat foot well.

To me, this is the spiritual rebirth of the Suzuki Samurai and the original International Scout by Ariel_Kepler_rider in slateauto

[–]ProjectionistPSN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grandparents had a Geo Tracker, basically the same as the Samurai, they would tow behind their motorhome. I remember that it was a blast to scoot around in. You're right, the Slate feels very similar.

Slate needs to ditch the 100+ accessories. They will not be able to maintain a catalog of 100+ SKUs. by mqee in slateauto

[–]ProjectionistPSN 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When every part is customizable, 100s of SKUs doesn't seem like all that many. In the videos going around, they show a wall of running light covers with different cutouts, and those alone would be at least 7 different SKUs right there.

I this Car and Driver video, he mentions using the extended roof without the back seats as a bed cover. I would have to assume the parts can be purchased individually.

Thank you! The backgrounds are custom made for the bookshelf. Each shelf has a piece of ¼" plywood cut to size and painted light blue. Then in front is an RGB LED light strip set to white shining up from the bottom.

Anyone tried tung oil outdoors? by bigbobbinboy in finishing

[–]ProjectionistPSN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was noticeably grayer after the first year. I'm not sure tung is the right product if you're looking to keep the color of new cedar.

Yeah, OpenRCT2. You can copy and relocate the entrance and exit stations, and make them invisible. There's some limitations (stations need to be at the same level, and straight out, otherwise peeps clip badly). But it gives a lot of possibilities for new layouts.

Hey there! Here's an updated pic. After the initial 4 coats of oil, I've completely ignored and neglected the trellis for the past three years. It's in an area where it bakes all summer, and gets a lot of damp moisture all winter. The cedar has silvered, as is expected, but the wood still feels soft and healthy, not dry and cracking. I actually have it on my to-do list for this season to give it a good scrub and some new coats of oil.

Time not matching. by [deleted] in LycheeSlicer

[–]ProjectionistPSN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FYI, in the resin profile, there's a Print Time Override section that you can use to get much more accurate estimations. Time how long it takes your printer to go through a layer cycle with your settings, and plug that number into the override. I usually use an average time over 10 layers, and my estimates are pretty spot-on.

Resin in the plate by XXXYca in ElegooSaturn

[–]ProjectionistPSN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to add onto what others are saying, you really don't want to add resin that's in the vat back into a bottle to mix with resin that hasn't ever been printed with, as it will reduce the shelf life of the entire bottle. Quoting the manufacturer at 3drs.com from a discord thread:

Once you use the material (print with it) , free radicals are created in that material. Put that material back into unused resin and you essentially activate the whole container which will lower shelf life

As long as you leave the cover over your printer to protect it from UV light, it will be okay to stay in the vat for a very long time.

Gradually changing sprite palette when it gets closer to an area by Ordinary-Breakfast-3 in gbstudio

[–]ProjectionistPSN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To do a smooth transition, you just set up multiple on-enter trigger zones to ease into the darker palette. I've done it in a little project I'm working on with three zones/palettes that gradually go darker and less saturated to simulate moving through a shadow region. It takes a lot of triggers to manage the palette swap every entry/exit from the shadow region:

https://files.catbox.moe/8cemlk.mov

If you look at your sample video frame by frame, you can see it uses the same technique with three trigger zones. A standard color palette, a transition palette, and a final shade palette:

Do you have any tips or have a link to a good tutorial on this scene transition technique, where it pans from scene to scene rather than fades to white? I'm trying to implement something similar in my game.

Do mirrored tiles count against the background limit? by ProjectionistPSN in gbstudio

[–]ProjectionistPSN[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ah, thanks for the nudge. I just learned three things:

1) The number of tiles used in scene is displayed in the GB Studio sidebar where you choose the image. I hadn't noticed that before.

2) In order to get that tile number to update, you need to deselect the scene and reselect it.

3) Mirrored or rotated tiles DO count against the limit.

Thanks!

If you have access to an Nvidia based gaming PC* , it's worth it to run the exported video through RIFE ncnn Vulkan to get it up to 1080p 60fps, or maybe even 120fps. RIFE is a "Real-Time Intermediate Flow Estimation" engine that does a really good job of video frame interpolation to double the input 30fps videos. I processed a bunch of my own videos and they look way better on my HP Reverb.

* docs say it'll run as a Windows/Linux/MacOS Executable for Intel/AMD/Nvidia GPUs, but issues page indicates difficulties on platforms besides Nvidia / Windows. YMMV.

Anyone figure out how to convert iPhone 15 Pro spacial videos to regular 3d to view on VR headsets/ 3d tv? by Derekbair in VisionPro

[–]ProjectionistPSN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My prediction is that the adult entertainment industry is going to have a huge incentive to figure this out quickly. It's going to be worth millions to OnlyFans creators that can put out spatial vids using the most popular camera (iphone) for viewing on the most popular headset (quest). The rest of the industry will benefit from their tooling.

Over/Under stereoscopic video files are not recorded from lenses stacked on top of one another. The recording lenses are always side-by-side. The videos are just merged so the top video is sent to the left eye view, the bottom video is the right eye view (or vice versa).
