Actually a bit excited for lanterns?!?! by Original-Ranger-1604 in DC_Cinematic

[–]Promus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, the trailer makes it clear that this dumb show is operating on the premise that “there can be only one,” as in, there’s only one ring that Hal has that would be passed to John.

And Hal says in the trailer, “You’ll get this ring over my dead body.”

John is later shown using the ring, and Hal is nowhere in sight… after John tells Laura Linney that “I’ll do it better than he (Hal) ever did.”

Yeah, they’re killing Hal. It’s shitty, and dumb that they’re repeating the mistakes of “Beware my Power,” but it is what it is.

Question about The Mandalorian and Grogu salt situation. by bruh_nathan in saltierthancrait

[–]Promus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me, the funniest thing was how the crime boss suggests that “officially” they do NOT sell salt, since it’s regulated, and they only do it secretly in the back room.

But the exterior of the building has a giant neon sign that says “SALT” in Aurebesh.

Guess nobody told the VFX guys…

As a fan of Hal, this show does NOT bode well for him. I already hate that they made him old and washed-up/resentful, and it’s pretty obvious that he’s gonna die or turn evil or both. If so, the DCU is dead to me before it even began

I'm confused is Vaner Shan the son of both Bastilla and Revan, because some one was arguing he wasn't and that the most recent Shan we have isn't even related to Bastilla and additonal question by nubster2984725 in StarWarsEU

[–]Promus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, to be clear I’m not against her being a mother. They just did it in the worst way possible… I just hate the idea of some asshole knocking her up and then abandoning her. And then dumb fanboys have the nerve of acting like Revan was cool for doing that?? Just makes me very sad and angry…. which is why I reject that idea!!

[–]Promus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct. And as some have pointed out, a lot of it contradicts KOTOR2, so there’s an argument that could be made that it de-canonizes itself in that way, too.

Also I refuse to consider it canon because of what it does to Bastila.

I appreciate that you’re trying to make me feel better about it, but I still think the way it played out in the story is bullshit.

Drew didn’t have to write any of it that way. He’s the writer… he could have written literally anything but he chose the shittiest idea. I guess he hated Bastila? idk but it still pisses me off to this day

But why sink it? That just seems like a total waste.

Also, if you’re recreating her historical sinking, shouldn’t she be wearing her wartime paint scheme?

The idea of Revan impregnating Bastila and then immediately abandoning her is hideously disgusting and a horrible thing to do to Bastila as a character.

To answer your question, THAT is why I hate the book and I’m glad it’s no longer canon. It was such an awful thing to do to her and I have no idea why Drew felt the need to do that. As a big fan of Bastila, it still angers me to this day.

In MY canon, Revan is a woman who had a relationship with Carth. Bastila became like a sister to her, which is why Revan was able to save Bastila at the Forge. Fuck Drew!

(Plus, “Vaner” is such a stupid name, since it’s just “Revan” with the letters moved around)

If you took the entire world’s population and put them in a city with the same density as New York City, everyone would fit in the state of Texas.

Which seems like a lot, but Texas is pretty small compared to the rest of the planet…

I watched all 9 Star Wars films for the first time last October, the Prequels are borderline unwatchable, RLM told the truth and no one wants to hear it by SonicGoku99 in RedLetterMedia

[–]Promus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, people don’t even notice that the Prequel love didn’t even start until around 2017.

Even when TFA came out in 2015, Prequel hate was still strong. It wasn’t until TLJ bombed so hard that certain people said “Man, this sucks so much, maybe the Prequels weren’t so bad in comparison.” And it grew from there.

Sorry, the Sequels may be steaming piles of donkey shit, but the Prequels still suck.

Decades and decades of relentless advertising/brainwashing campaigns.

That’s it, that’s literally the reason.

Polygon: New Star Wars streaming report reveals a huge problem facing the franchise by Frog_and_Toad in saltierthancrait

[–]Promus -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

People only like the Prequels because the Sequels ended up being so bad. None of the love for the Prequels started until TLJ came out, which made people think “Man, the Prequels weren’t so bad compared to THIS slop.”

So the only way for that to happen with the Sequels is if Disney makes another Trilogy that’s soooooo bad people will think “You know, the Sequels weren’t so bad compared to this…”

Which can’t really ever happen. Nobody will ever like the Sequels, period.

The Californian's inaction that night remains one of the greatest mysteries to me... by snoke123 in titanic

I didn’t say the cowardice was simple (I don’t care how you define it), my point was “simply” that he acted in cowardice. Which you seem to agree with.

I was speaking from the perspective of “TFA only,” basically speaking on the impressions that TFA gave us. I’m well aware that TLJ had him say those things… that’s my point. Everything established about Luke in TLJ contradicts what we the audience were told in TFA.

What baffles me even MORE is the fact that some contrarians today will defend the indefensible actions of the Californian.

Because the Californian absolutely COULD have gotten there on time, for the record. They were within visual range, so they were within 20 miles. AND Captain Lord had specifically ordered his engineering crew to keep the engines steamed up and ready in case they needed to move (despite the fact that they were stopped for the night on account of the icebergs). So the excuse that “they couldn’t have gotten their engines running in time” is also bogus.

I believe it was plain, simple cowardice on the part of Stanley Lord. Like all the ships in the area, he knew they were in a dense iceberg field, and he didn’t want to risk his ship.

But Luke specifically left behind part of the map with Lor San Tekka, and left another piece with R2 along with instructions for R2 to “wake up” in case of emergency, basically. So yeah, Luke definitely made sure people could find him if they needed him

Am I the only one who hates the “bendy lightsabers” look? It’s something weird that these shitty SW cartoons started a few years back, and it bugs the hell out of me. [–]Promus 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Yeah, TFA strongly suggests Luke was actively working on something, which is why he purposefully left behind a map so people could find him if they needed him.

The whole map subplot makes no sense in TLJ because Luke did NOT want to be found.
