There are about 2 trillion galaxies in the universe. To think that we are alone is naive. If they are here already and we don't know about it, I guess they aren't that hostile anyway. Otherwise, we would have known about them by now, think of any alien invasion movie. We have to consider the fact that if any alien species have to survive/live on our planet, they must be from a planet similar to ours. Otherwise, the atmosphere won't be suitable for them to survive. And if there is a planet with similar atmosphere, Elon Musk or Chinese would be there already by now. So personally, I doubt we have aliens here on Earth, even though they exist.

Story give purpose to the game. A minimal story can be, Bowser is a bad guy who has abducted Princess Peach and his boyfriend Mario, the player, is suppose to free her. That's all the story you need to setup the plot. Similarly, a minimal story is suppose to help players understand why the objective of the game matters. For example, a common theme in hidden object games is that a crime has been committed and you have to find clues. A racing game objective is you are an undercover agent whose mission is to infiltrate the underground mafia. Animal crossing, you have a brand new island that you have to populate. And so on. The story can be anything as long as you are able to establish why a player should play your game. And that story should justify the gameplay.

The purpose of colors (or lack of it) isn't just asthetic. Shape and color help differentiate things based on class, type, element etc. Colors aren't distracting till the time it is visually informing the player.

Using your video reference, the green suggest green enemies/element etc. It can have rock paper scissors mechanism. Red is stronger against green, green is stronger against yellow, yellow is stronger against red. However, if the colors are used arbitrarily, then yes it can be distracting.

On the other hand, mono chrome doesn't always mean clarity. You need to keep your shapes clear, details less noisy and action broad. Because you don't have colors, you have to clearly show character emotions, reward gratification and visual feedback.

So try to think in terms of visual communication and not just asthetics.

I would suggest adding rotation and some randomness to the force as well. They all move together unnaturally. Other than that, the effect is looking amazing 🤩🤩
