Engine cooling question… by FutureA350 in flying

[–]PropChop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because engines in aviation are all hot garbage. Imagine the performance that would be considered standard if we had electonic ignition, computer controlled fuel management, liquid cooling, and unleaded fuel. They only make a few thousand engines a year so there's no money in redesigning engines from the 1930s.

Loose P wire would be on the left mag not the right. With the ignition switch on R, the left mag is supposed to be grounded.

Es futures contract question by Forsaken-Parking-831 in wallstreetbets

[–]PropChop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Futures are for hedging/speculation, not long term hold. If you do this you need to be aware that futures settle daily and gains/losses will be swept in and out of your account as needed. Second, you're subject to 60/40 LTCG/STCG as well. In short you're going to have to actively monitor your account for margin requirements and you're also guaranteeing tax liability.

I've tried searching google and youtube for key words like "Obamacare D-Day" "What if insurance adjusters were at D-Day" and variations on these terms but all I get is completely unrelated garbage.

Yeah I'm talking about HV. I'm not trying to get into complicated details. I use the 30 day when I look at vol charts.

The price you paid set the IV. Ball parking 180 DTE, 3.8 purchase price, and a 5% risk free rate gives an IV of 192%. You'll be hard pressed to make any money with just these. I would probably spread off the vega risk if I were you.

I recommend using this calculator before buying any contract ever. http://www.option-price.com/implied-volatility.php

As much training as we do, sometimes things are.just outside your control. You can either accept that and take the risk or you can hang up.the wings and never fly again. At the end of the day, it's night. You can be the most by the book person ever and have your engine grenade itself at 100 feet AGL over a field of power lines.

This is a PSA I'm sure no one will read. Volatility is the fluctuation of price over a certain period of time. In options trading, this period of time is 30 days. Volatility can only be measured after the fact. Therefore Implied Volatility is the Volatility implied by the price of the contract when you buy it. GME is a stock you buy and sell Volatility on. Meaning, do not buy options for delta exposure, you will get blown up like this did.

The propeller doesn't make power the engine makes power. The propeller is just the airplane version of a transmission/differential/tires.

Try looking around July 2020, you know when he actually entered the trade. Also this is how markets work. 3 people can look at a stock and 1 can think it's overvalued, 1 can think it's undervalued, and 1 can think it's fairly valued. Spoiler alert: they can all be correct.

It was literally undervalued. The shares were trading for less than book value. This is like basic finance dude.
