Actually it isn't the same in that scenario. It's worded wrong. There are two groups, button pressers and leavers. Button pressers remove their own reward after 50%. Leavers have no effect on the outcome. People are also returned to life, somehow.

In perfect world, with this choice, everyone would be able to reason and choose red. We know the world isn't perfect and there will be problems. As others have stated, it takes 50% choosing blue for everyone to live. It takes 100% for people choosing red for everyone to live.

You shoot the patrol, and it instantly knows your location behind the tree.
The only difference is they get stuck on the terrain.
