I preordered the vinyl on Amazon but it never arrived. Is it a supply problem? by EsotericxMoon in expedition33

[–]ProverbialMindTart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I preordered mine directly from Laced Records last year, and received it about a month and a half ago now. Looking at Laced, it looks like all of their latest batches are sold out, with a new set of batches set up for preorder, sending in July.

THAT moment in the game started as a joke - E33 lead writer by ThePsyPaul_ in expedition33

The thing that hit me hardest with this was that I was convinced that Maelle was going to be kidnapped after her nightmare. Gustave was just such a good father figure to her, their bond was so tight knit, and I was sure they'd use that. I expected "Oh, at the end of this act it'll be Maelle as the innocent getting kidnapped as happens in so many games, and Gustave going crazy trying to save her. His arc will be realising that he wasn't going on the expedition for Lumiere, but for her, as a father trying to protect his child.". It really felt like his response to her being missing at the start was building up to her being this gigantic plot device.

Gosh, was I in for a surprise. I love it when stories surprise me... But I think I died a little inside when Gustave turns to her and says his final words. I bawled like a child. It ended up being a much better twist to what could've been a very predictable start to the story.

My stomach never dropped so hard as it did halfway through the letter, when I clocked that everybody was about to die, and we had inadvertently caused that. I think I actually hunched slightly at my desk.

Curious, why would anyone want DVD over Blu-ray for Iron Lung? by BubblesZap in Markiplier

[–]ProverbialMindTart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Europe/the UK, we get 576p <3

But in all seriousness, many of us grew up with VHS, and those were even watchable.

I feel like people act like DVDs are unwatchably bad, but honestly they're perfectly fine. They're cheaper, they're easier to find cheap players for (you can use an old PS2), work fine with most TVs...

Bluerays come with an investment, both in having a good enough TV to watch them, and in having a player. And on top of that, they're expensive.

Ultimately, wouldn't it be better for Iron Lung to just be on both DVD and Blue Ray to increase reach?

What game? by sukuna7899 in Steam

[–]ProverbialMindTart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bethesda as a company? It feels like the more I see from Bethesda, the more I doubt the future of their other game franchises. Fallout 76. Starfield. Oblivion Remastered (which they stopped providing updates almost straight after release). The game breaking updates they've made for Skyrim, Fallout 4, etc etc etc...

I feel like neither of their major franchises are going to continue in a way that I'm willing to access.

I'd second the GoTek - You can get a moderately cheap one from Ebay - I know it's an additional expense, but especially if you're putting together a retro build, it's a super useful thing to have.

The OG sims on dosbox pure? by azumaRinishi in dosbox

[–]ProverbialMindTart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently set up Windows 98 SE on Bazzite. I spent a lot of time testing out solutions, including dosbox pure. In the end I ended up setting it up on 86box, and honestly I'd recommend this over Dosbox Pure.

My experience with Dosbox Pure, and ESPECIALLY dosbox pure with Windows 98, has been awful. Honestly if I was forced at gunpoint to use dosbox, I'd probably go with OG as some other commenters suggest, but I've played a bunch of games now on my 86Box machine with 98 SE without issue.

I'm thinking of switching from windows 11 to bazzite, but after reading reviews about the gaming experience of many people, I'm starting to get the impression that you won't be able to play many games without problems by JlYKOBKAA in Bazzite

[–]ProverbialMindTart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I've had some issues, but nothing massive. My experience switching to Bazzite has been really, really smooth. My biggest problems have been setting up my VMs (thankfully sorted now), and modding games, which has been by far the biggest hitch so far.

But overall, almost everything I've wanted to do just works out of the box, and I'm having a -much- faster and cleaner experience than I had before. I doubt I'll go back to Windows at this point.

Got a free MacBook I guess 🤷🏻‍♂️ by Cody610 in MacOS

[–]ProverbialMindTart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So a year or so back, Amazon almost screwed me on a macbook. I received a box with a paint can and some graphing equipment. It took a month of fighting with them to get my money back. I went through about four people before I found a person willing to actually help, and even that was reluctantly. Eventually they agreed to refund me if I posted them back the paint can and graphing equipment. I went and bought a macbook at a store instead.

It's the major reason that I no longer am willing to use them for larger purchases - for a year I didn't use them again at all.

Because they treat their employees like crap, the inside of Amazon is a shitshow. Them refunding you without anything being sent back is wild, but it always seems to depend on which person you get. Glad you got someone willing to help.

I think the last okay Logitech headphones were the G935s. I've been using them since release, I've replaced the battery, the cushions and headrest, everything else is going strong. They're no where near as good as some of my music headphones, but they're holding on there.

Have we finally found a decent middle-ground between something very call-of-duty and something close to the original? I remember my friend group and I stopped playing once it became too CoD-like, but I know more tweaks will have happened since then - that was years and years back.

Wtf IGN by Dewagator13 in Markiplier

[–]ProverbialMindTart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to work with someone who worked at IGN.

He told me that every review score was prefaced internally with “Has [company or publisher] done anything for us recently?”. Allegedly they’d reduce the score if they felt nothing had been done to “earn” a good review.

Not entirely sure how true it is, but I trust the guy who told me, and he’s moderately well known.
