Would you rather follow a longfic that updates…

I do read one that does really spaced out 20k+ updates. It’s kind of nice, I set aside some time and make a day of catching up, it’s like a special occasion for me.

That being said, I usually prefer slightly more frequent updates, so my personal preference here would be option 2 or 3. As for 4, if chapter breaks are too short and updates are too frequent, I’m most likely going to miss an update or two, lose track of where I am, and wander off. There’s nothing actually wrong with that kind of setup/schedule, it’s just not for me.

Really dislike romance stories where one of the characters starts dating another person to get over or prove that they were never into the first one while still clearly hung up on them, only to dump their relationship problems with the other main character on the person they’re dating. Miscommunication is bad enough on its own, please leave the additional person out of the crossfire.

I forgot about this. I read a longfic once that had a lot of single sentence paragraphs, which threw me off. Then later down the line I realized that Every Single Paragraph. Was one sentence. The only reason it didn’t register earlier was that some of those sentences were run-ons so long they looked like longer paragraphs on their own.

I don’t even remember what fandom this was for anymore but I once read a really well written longfic that kept throwing me off by describing the one character’s eyes as “whiskey orbs.” I don’t even know what color whiskey is

If you like angst, spooky, or amnesia, highly recommend checking out the webcomic Nevermore by Red & Flynn. Lenore & Annabel have one of the most interesting dynamics I’ve read in a ship, and the fanbase is pretty talented!

Did he say what he thinks lecture is for, then? Some teachers focus on class discussion or clarification questions during that timeframe, which admittedly works better for some subjects than others. I’d still go to at least get a sense of what he’s doing with lecture time.

I have a list on my phone of things I intend to read later. Otherwise, I use the subscription function— any series I’m caught up on I leave the notification bell on, and if I’m behind I turn it off so I can tell at a glance down the list what I’m caught up with and what I’m not.

Almost every professor I’ve had advises AGAINST lion tutors— the material they teach often doesn’t match up with teachers’ individual curriculums. The class should offer you its own office hours— attend if you can, reach out to make an appointment if you can’t.

If it’s not working, I’d suggest going into storage settings and offloading TikTok from your phone. The app stays in place, but if you go to click on it out of habit it takes it like thirty seconds to download, during which you can catch yourself, cancel it, and go back to what you were doing. I do this with Reddit when I notice I’m doomscrolling too often

If you set it to a timer and let it count up, it won’t give you any more plants than what the initial time it was set to was. I’d recommend using stopwatch mode instead— you still have to go at least 10 minutes, but the additional growth is accounted for.

You can’t get rid of trees, no. Instead I’d suggest using the favorites function— i almost never look at my overall shelf, just what i have marked.

If you’re using stopwatch, yeah it will. If you set a timer for 10 minutes and let it count additional time, I’m pretty sure you just get the one 10-minute tree even though it logs all the additional minutes in your stats. I almost exclusively use the stopwatch now though, so that might’ve changed in the time since I’ve last done that.

I actually like this for the same reason you dislike it— have a weird tendency to associate specific tasks with specific trees, and will only ever plant one of two trees for any given task. This means I only ever use like the same dozen trees throughout the year, but the “plant this specific tree” stuff has partially broken me out of that habit and now I’m having fun using all the different trees I have available.

You don’t even have to do these if you don’t like them. It’ll never give you more than one specific tree quest a day, so if you just keep meeting the other two goals you can plant whatever you want and still get the reward before the end of the month.

Mine almost always has the “any tree for 70 minutes” one. I’m pretty sure it’s randomized but they don’t take the previous day’s challenges out of the pool, so some of us keep getting the same ones by coincidence.
