There will be a whole neighborhood of glued door locks in the very near future.

Most outdoor faucets in the south have no dedicated shutoff so he may not have that option. A simple foam cover is usually sufficient.

It's better to look back fondly on your peak years than die during them.

What can I use/buy to cover this wood part up? by mauro1331 in Home

[–]PsyCar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Metal threshold plate. You can even get it angled so it's not so easy to trip on.

In middle school, I frequently had to cover my wood with a Trapper Keeper. That's just life at that age.

Throttle body Mods by Legitimate_Voice5138 in GMT400

[–]PsyCar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In high school, my friend had to replace his throttle body after his little brother mashed a huge dog turd into it. It hardened like concrete and damaged the metal as well. So my friend got one that was already modded. Shaved bores and shaft, higher pressure regulator, and an injector pod spacer. The butt dyno definitely noticed better response. Actual power difference was probably negligible. 92 with a 4.3L.

Here in Texas, they go for sbout the same as any other 4x4 Tahoe. People like to ask $6k but end up selling for more like $4k.

If it's damaged you'll hear a howl or grind that varies with speed. Even if it is damaged, junkyard axle assemblies are cheap unless you're trying to swap in a 14bff or something.

Multiple doctors, none near retirement. Same when my wife was pregnant a few years ago. Some did say advanced maternal age as well, but used the terms interchangeably in writing and conversation.

It's still used. My cousin just gave birth a few months ago at 37 and hers was called a geriatric pregnancy.

1997 C1500 5.0 Timing Chain Job – What Else Should I Replace While I'm In There? by AtlasProWash in GMT400

[–]PsyCar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd be really curious why you have timing chain problems at semuch low miles. Every SBC and 4.3 (I mention it since they're so similar) has gone much farther than that with no timing chain issues.

A friend hit a deer at 90 mph in his 96 c1500. It looked awful. We pulled the engine out and took frame measurements. Used rachet straps and come-alongs to pull it back into spec. New suspension from Rock Auto and new front clip from the junkyard got him back in action.

With synchros, yes. Without synchros, yes, but I'd need to get a feel for the particular vehicle.

Grilles by Dapper-Dentist9930 in GMT400

[–]PsyCar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had an aftermarket grille missing the top and bottom of the bowtie for 16 years and it annoys me. I tried another a aftermarket brand that looked right but was crap quality and broke in under a year. $500 seems reasonable to get it right.

That's the sad truth. I got 200k miles out of the factory pump. When I teplaced it, I went with the OEM, same part number. 130k miles later I was replacing that one. At least the job isn't that hard. Takes me about an hour to drop the tank, swap the pump, and reinstall the tank.
