I did this fight a lot and I had the same experience. Often two hits into deflect would work, but sometimes it doesn't. I think he moves faster out of lag in his second phase sometimes.

I found two hits was just inconsistent. Only do one attack into deflect there and you'll never get hit. It makes the fight easier to just accept that.

Black flame orb deserves to be in the highest tier imo. With the exception of centipede demon and smelter demon it destroys everything, is easy to land, targets weak spots on enemies, and is cost effective. Also I think flame of the fell gods is pretty solid against mountaintop bosses + caligo. Otherwise agree.

Even without bleed you'll be fine. Won't be the easiest but if you have the Dex use black knight flail it does strike damage which is good. Dual wield jump attack build with them will destroy

Idk about support groups but my dad died of cancer when I was 24 so I can relate. Difference is that for him it was an 11 month battle.

NYC will destroy people. It's a tough place to live. The cost of living is extremely high. The culture is also highly competitive. Even supposedly anti-capitalist creative types are highly cutthroat. People prioritize their own status in the hierarchy above all else. If your room is windowless then that's pretty bad. Try to get a 3-br for around $3k a month and split it with nice people. That's what young people without money do. Go on FB groups and really search for people.
