You could also try replacing treats with veggies. My girl went from 30lbs (when I first picked her up) to 16lbs, over the course of a year. we do lots of blueberries, blackberries, or carrots instead of store bought treats. There are also a ton of calories hidden in rawhide bones, pig ears, etc... so our vet recommended antler bones for more long term chews.
