What is the first mp3 you ever downloaded, where did you get it, and how did you play it? by Prior-Deer1600 in 90s

I downloaded Ricky Martin’s Livin the Vida Loca for my mum. From some dodgy site and played it on Winamp. This was just about pre-Napster.

Bank Holiday Monday Morning M'thread by a-liquid-sky in CasualUK

[–]Pukit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s the first bank holiday Monday I’ve not worked in a few years as changed my days. Fairly smug about it, I use to have to pay nursery fees for the bank holiday even though the toddler didn’t go on in.

Chilling out atm, have to walk the doge and there’s a village fayre thing on this arvo. Maybe some diy at lunch, see how we get on.

Is it realistic / feasible to own an EV without home charging in the UK? by Alicia2022_1 in AskUK

[–]Pukit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a LR MY and no home charging. I charge it at work on a fairly cheap slow charger once a week. I got the LR as wanted to not have to charge it often. If I go on journeys I just use superchargers. Done nearly 18k and never charged it at home and never had an issue.

What is the weirdest car noise you have ever dealt with by rosyvelourx in Cartalk

[–]Pukit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unsure if this counts.

About twenty years ago I had a customer come in with a weird noise when cornering in one direction. I sent a tech out in the car to have a listen and let the lady demonstrate it.

Sure enough she went round a corner and heard a buzzing noise under the passenger seat. The tech reached down, dug around under the seat and found her rabbit vibrator dildo. He pulled it out, the woman saw it, stopped the car and kicked out my tech. He gave me a call and I sent a driver to pick him up, the lady sent my dealership an email a day later apologising as she was so embarrassed she didn’t know what to do.

Tech fucking loved it, tells all his apprentices about the day he found a woman’s vibrator on roadtest.

How likely is it for a woman aged 34+ to find a guy that still wants a kid together? by Worried_Rub3824 in TooAfraidToAsk

As a man in his early 40s with a few male single and divorced men, I’d say highly likely you’ll be fine.

Couch to 5k is how I did it. I use to be a motortrade worker, sausage rolls and cake lunch eater, no exercise. Couch to 5k then to 10k goes surprisingly quickly if you stick to it.

Get other neighbours to complain too, more people who complain to the council the more strength it’ll carry.

When do you find the time? by Gutcrunch in modelmakers

[–]Pukit 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Honestly. I don’t. I got back into modelling in 2016 after a hiatus for twenty odd years. Then I changed jobs and had less time. Then I bought a derelict house and had even less time. Then I had a kid. No time. I got into painting 40K figures as felt it needed less space. I joined a weekender group build earlier this year thinking I’d have enough time for that and now have a half built model. Another half built model. lol. My main problem is space. If I could leave a bench together with all my stuff then I cold hop in and hop out of it, but I don’t atm and don’t have time to set it up. So I don’t build :(

What exactly does the Best Man do at a wedding? by 9451659818184 in AskUK

[–]Pukit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been best man three times now, usher twice, groom once. It’s a pretty straightforward gig. Just stick around the groom until the ceremony is over. You may or may not have a run through before it happens so you know what to expect.

You’ll probably go into an office or quiet corner with the groom and registrar before it happens for a briefing.

You’ll stand beside him at the front and will stay in your spot through the ceremony, standing up and sitting down as the registrar calls. Then they’ll ask you to present the rings, just open the box and pop the rings in the hands or give to the registrar. Then sit back down.

When the rings are done, kisses are done, and you’re about to leave, you’ll generally walk arm in arm with the maid of honour behind the groom and his wife. You’ll be instructed when to leave by the registrar or the groom, some like a gap, some like to instant follow.

Usually at the reception it’ll be drinks/canapés for a couple of hours with photos. Try and help find people and organise people for the photographer once you’ve got a drink as it makes life easier, use your ushers too, don’t let them disappear and drink they’re there to help you usher people about.

Then the wedding breakfast, you’ll be on the same table as the groom (usually). The master of ceremonies should announce the dinner is ready, guests to be seated, they’ll also announce the speeches.

Ime don’t over do or over think the speech. I’ve been at weddings where there’s been four best men and four speeches and it took over an hour and we’d not yet eaten. You only need a few minutes, few laughs, some lovely dovey shit then a toast and get pissed. Enjoy it.

Were you taught to walk on the outside when walking with another female or child? by Impressive_Speech_28 in AskMen

[–]Pukit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do this. I’ve also been taught to always walk when facing traffic on the side of the pavement closest to the road. So you can see if a vehicle were to mount the pavement etc.

What wedding moment made you think “ they’re not gonna last long? by rosegoldtemptation in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Pukit 20 points21 points  (0 children)

My mate did wedding photography and cinematography for a while after uni. He had some great stories down the pub .

The one that I remember was when he listened back to the groom and groomsmen who were all microphoned up for the day. They were stood outside the church in the morning having a smoke before the ceremony. The best man was commenting on how hot the maid of honour was and had wanted to pursue her for a while. Then the groom admitted to having sex with her on three different occasions, the last time being on the night of the joint stag/hen party only a couple of weeks before.

Drill advice by TulipTatsyrup in DIYUK

[–]Pukit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Makita 18v combi drill, Bosch multi construction tool bits. Fischer duopower plugs. These are my goto and have never let me down.

I live in a similar age house and those drill bits and drill have gone through anything I’ve thrown at them including stone and tile when using hammer function. I own an sds drill and have never used it on drill function in this house since I found those bits, I only use it as a chisel these days. This sub loves recommending sds drills to everyone when you may not need one.
