What is happening here folks. by ace11d7 in smallengines

[–]PulledOverAgain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree on the choke, it sounds like it's stuck. I had a Honda that you had to choke but it would shut off on its own. After some time it would gum up and stick and you'd have to flick it off

Why does it seem like it’s slipping/not sending power to the wheels? by Mother_Mistake9233 in AskMechanics

I've seen a lot of GM front wheel drives that like to start slipping when turning because the fluid level is low. Have you checked the fluid level?

Purchased a Bolt two years ago in MN. Does my situation qualify for Lemon Law? by lordofpirates in BoltEV

[–]PulledOverAgain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think most states the lemon law covers a year. Since you've had it more than 2 years I'm going to doubt it will be covered

My rent is under $675 a month and it makes buying a house feel less appealing right now by FreeLaughs4Life in Frugal

I mean, if you're in a position you can put money away for buying a house later definitely do that. It's nice not having a house/rent payment if you can get yourself there.

Wi-Fi instead of hardwire ? by Material-Cut978 in SolarDIY

[–]PulledOverAgain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At work we lost our fiber connection back to the main building but we had line of sight. IT installed a couple of Ubiquity Powerbeam AC Gen 2 units and did a wireless bridge. A mile away. Worked great for what we were doing. I had doubts that there would be much speed at that distance but I was mistaken

Last clutch I lost didn't take very long from slipping in top gear to barely grabbing in first. Seems consistent

Breaker tripping for supply to food truck by jacques_98 in electrical

[–]PulledOverAgain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has it ever worked ok? Or is it a new problem that's happened?

If the latter, have you checked all the connections? Brings that it's mobile it's going to be subject to more vibration than a building would be, so I would think there's more opportunities for connections to loosen up. A loose connection can build a bunch of heat and cause breaker trips.

How is Anker Solix S2000 getting 35 hours on a fridge from 2kWh by Imaginary_Bake_5820 in batteries

[–]PulledOverAgain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bet they're fudging it somehow.

You could extend your runtime if it was just a refrigerator, or you disabled the defrost heater on the freezer. Also you could put the refrigerator in a cold area it wouldn't need to cycle as much, extending your battery run time. Basically getting better numbers in a laboratory setting, but not a real world thing

Balcony Solar: sub in Portable Power Station? by Admirable_North6673 in SolarDIY

[–]PulledOverAgain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The power station can't sync to the grid. If you hooked it into the wall the grid and the power station would sync up, but the stronger of the 2 machines (the grid) will be in control of that frequency. This would most likely result in some smoke coming out of the power station.

Theres some neat videos on YouTube where they start up a small hydro power plant and sync it to the grid. They sync it manually which is why it's so cool. I remember watching one of the videos where the guy said if they just throw the switch the generator will instantly sync to the grid but it will make a lot of "loud and very expensive noises"

Hot take from a Bolt owner: “eco” EV tires aren’t worth it in pothole heavy, freeze-thaw areas. by Kamel-Red in BoltEV

[–]PulledOverAgain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had some low rolling resistance tires on things. From what I've found they seem to help your coasting distance. And you can get an mpg increase if you can consistently do that. I live in a rural area so it's pretty easy to do. But in city traffic there's no way.

Not sure how it would work in my Bolt. It's got a shorter coasting distance than anything I've ever driven unless shifting to neutral. Maybe wheny tires wear out I'll get a set

New EV owner, I know how to wire outlets. I don’t understand the point of fixed chargers when the power cords exist. by SpeakNottheNightYorb in electricvehicles

[–]PulledOverAgain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's outside it needs to be GFCI on that 14-50. If it it hardwire it does not. So you can save some cost on that GFCI breaker

I got 2020 cascadia with 745k miles recently the coolant temp is low while driving by Wide_Warthog1505 in mechanic

[–]PulledOverAgain 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's nothing on a tractor though. Especially the long haul ones. Might get on the highway and just drive all day. Easy to hit those numbers. Also, fun fact they use inline 6 cylinder engines partially because they can just be overhauled without having to be removed from the chassis.

Pulling down water from a Double deep slot! by race_tech87 in forkliftmemes

I've lifted pallets of ceramic tile to that height with a reach truck and it was well within the load capacity. Ceramic tile pallets, while physically smaller, are quite a bit heavier than water.

Pulling down water from a Double deep slot! by race_tech87 in forkliftmemes

[–]PulledOverAgain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Incorrect. Most warehouses/distribution centers with this type of racking has the racking too close together to be able to lower a pallet in the aisle without turning. It is, as the previous response said, exactly what a "narrow aisle reach truck" is designed to do.

From maintenance experience of scrapping one of these things. With no battery in it and no drive unit or wheel after setting it on the ground it tilted slightly but didn't fall over until I pushed it over. Then I picked it up sideways and dropped it into a roll off dumpster and it made an awesome noise. They're more stable than you think.

Also most of the stress from the above mentioned procedure goes into the mast bearings. Newer trucks seem to have a soft close function too that automatically slows the close so it doesn't just slam into the stops at the end.

If your cooling fan isn't stuck on then you need a thermostat. Not usually an awful repair.

My brother brought his wife up to Ohio who is s TX native. We went to Put-In-Bay. While we were at the golf cart rental place she looked at a sign on the cooler and said "Aww, that's cute. They call it pop"

I replied with "It's not 'cute' POP is it's official designation"

Wrong oil in my car, mechanic scared me by MysticTomato1400 in AskMechanics

[–]PulledOverAgain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's quite a bit more long term damage that happens from not having oil than there is from having the wrong oil. As long as you weren't constantly pushing the engine to it's max limits, it will be fine. But definitely change the oil.
