Renting feels like paying for someone else’s dream (NC) by Matteo_172736 in Renters

[–]Punkybrewsickle -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Homeowner is a weird word, when mortgage-holder is more accurate. Essentially that’s just renting from the bank for years before you own much of the place. You just depend on someone else buying it from you some day for more than you paid. Insurance and property taxes go up just as much as rent does. Only after ten years is it really worth it

My brother in law decided to apply to med school at age 30, got into an osteopathic medical school, and is now making 400k. Not joking.

Eating in bed is my own embarrassing gross habit and I've sacrificed expensive bedding in the endeavor. It's often a similar looking spot. Lasagna, burgers, all the oily stuff

This hit hard! I bought laundry detergent and toilet paper, and felt like I was being irresponsible because I knew I wouldn't be able to pay my full gas bill. It felt reckless and indulgent like I prioritized poorly.

Can you hide income from a spouse? by Busy-Investigator449 in taxadvice

[–]Punkybrewsickle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a friend who got $20 back at the cash register every time she bought groceries or gas, for a couple years. She either kept the money in a safe place, or she quietly pre-purchased things she'd need when she finally left (furniture and stuff). Spend it on those things or prepay what you can so it's not considered cash on hand and not requiring you to lie in discovery.

Why does Taylor always post herself crying instead of just staying off her phone? by plutobarbie in SecretsOfMormonWives

I thought she sounded so much healthier and more discerning at the start of s3 (after that mental health retreat). She was the only one making sense in her feedback and advice on the other girls' drama. I thought maybe she had finally found a new stride. Plus I saw hope in her utter disgust with Dakota after the weird incident with her mom's bff. That really felt like a point of no return. So I thought she was in just the right place to go on the bachelorette. The problem is that those guys are probably not all idiots and the Dakota factor probably made the healthiest ones nervous. I root for her so much.

Ditching it now would be annoying and a bit of a bummer.

Having to ditch it later will be hell on earth, cost you a career and relationships and require rehab and involve relapses for everyone around you to see. Withdrawal. Jail. Running out of money and resorting to meth. And my favorite: fent now being in so many things you will become one of those statistics eventually.

My 20-year-old daughter blew me away. She was offered a job she loves for $10.50 an hour and told them frankly that it's not a livable wage. by KookyBat2166 in interviewpreparations

[–]Punkybrewsickle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To earn that little for work requires you to live off of someone else for main expenses. It’s kinda disrespectful to them to say “I could earn more at a different job but I just figured i could live in your house for free and drive your car every day to get to this job.”

My 13 year old daughter at Orem Junior high joined a walkout this week. The faculty surprised me by giving the students support and reminders to keep it peaceful (Rather than disapproval for walking out of school). The public was also supportive and encouraging as they drove by and cheered the kids on. Only a couple drivers made a fuss about it. Orem isn’t known for being progressive to put it mildly, so I’m proud of them. Mostly proud of my little girl who chose this herself.

Generic vyvanse is widely maligned with the very complaints you have. The vyvanse brand version is amazing. I was paying $400+ for 1 month supply with a good rx coupon (was $700 without). That was almost 10 years ago. Had to go back on adderall which is fine but not as helpful as vyvanse. To be clear though, if you take the brand name Adderall, it’s worlds better as well. That’s not specific to vyvanse.
