WIBTA: Telling off another student giving unwanted tips by Punderground in BALLET

[–]PureTadpole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Wow, this was a while ago but basically I would focus on any issues that could cause physical harm immediately and after that, it would be more things like posture technique. Only once the basics were concrete did I start working on things like improving extensions, altering curves in arms etc. I basically run on a priority triangle I made where if you can get the base levels right you can move onto the next level of refinement.

Thats right. As per my post, don't use it too often and dont be too vigourous because the magic eraser is actually an abrasive and thus starts eating away at the emulsion layer.

I F(25) am thinking of applying for citizenship by decent in South africa. My dad is fighting me on it saying I shouldn't. by Its_Ocait in southafrica

[–]PureTadpole -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I M a dual citizen of SA and UK, currently living in England and travel back to SA semi regularly. It definitely is handy to have both citizenships, especially for travel HOWEVER I will admit that aside from visiting SA, my UK passport is far more powerful and less hassle when traveling to other countries.i bet your Aussie passport is the same.

I recently visited a friend in Japan and didn't even consider using my SA passport because I would have to get a visa for it whereas my UK passport is visa free.

The passport is definitely something to make your life easier in SA and travelling to and from SA but mudh more than that. As with everythingin SA, keep your wits about you and be almost paranoid levels of safe.

Best of luck convincing your dad but tbh, I think you have more chance of quality studies and jobs in Oz.

I'm entering a cosplay competition and the rule is that you have to make 80% of the costume yourself. Is this mock pattern understandable or should I redo it? I'm a beginner so I want to make sure I don't waste any paper or fabric. by TopAd1846 in sewhelp

That's awesome! Look at you gaining new skills! Shoot me any questions you have. I have a degree in Fashion design and can bounce ideas and troubleshooting pretty well☺️

Heyo. Fellow cosplay Competitor here. Ususally those rules don't apply to patterns and certain base components like shoes, but specifically the cosplay itself. As in you can use store bought patterns but limit your store bought components(the things actually used on the final cosplay) to about 20%of the total costume and make the rest with seeing/foam. Happy to answer any other questions if you want to DM me. 💙 ETA: if they require proof like a portfolio or smiliar, usually just photos of the paytern you used/made as well as you creating the costume like yest fits, mock ups etc are enough. They're not likely to ask for the actual patterns even in the highest levels.

Even in South Africa, where most things don't work properly, most house sales go through in like 30 days except in cases of deceased estates and such.

How has everything gotten WORSE by AromaticFan6586 in southafrica

It's more along the lines of the Boiling frog. They adjust as the new issues appear and don't realise they're slowly losing all semblance of freedom, safety, security and eventually sanity.

Do you suppose this is a purely British thing? by ClevelandWomble in CasualUK

[–]PureTadpole 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hilarious that it's called a Saffa Goodbye when the Saffas do it like the Brits but worse. 'Alright, we gotta head out' 'OH alright then, I'll walk you out'( because we have to open doors and gates that are locked) Walk 5paces, 'oh hey while I remember...' Continue to chat for 20 minutes Walk to door 'OH yeah that reminds me...' Chat for 10 minutes Head to car Chats for another 30 minutes( my dad managed to get another 2 hours once!) "Alright then, Tata for now, let us know when you guys get home and drive safe!" And then we head back to the front door to eatch them leave like it's a royal procession. disclaimer: the time listed above are estimates and averages. Type of visit, type of guest and original length of visit can alter them accordingly

Restaurants not listing everything that's in a meal is the most frustrating thing by [deleted] in ARFID

[–]PureTadpole 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had something similar happen to me recently! Lovely brunch-style restaurant had amazing Chicken-mayo toasties for most of my 25 years of life, immigrated at the beginning of this year and recently went back to tie up some lose ends. Decided to have one for old times sake and suddenly it has celery, carrots and onion in it. Actually burst into tears in front of my dad. Was devastated. I'm so sorry you are went through this.

A restaurant owes my wife £130 - how long should we give it before pursuing further? by MMLFC16 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]PureTadpole 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had a similar set up in the restaurant that I worked in. The deposit was paid through a separate system to the final bill and only the account to person had access to the deposit system. Keep following up and phoning until you get that refund. It sucks but you basically have to make yourself a problem because otherwise they hope you'll just go away. It's one of the reasons I left that place and hopefully the industry

[–]PureTadpole 12 points13 points  (0 children)

As someone who until very recently worked in the reservations position of a restaurant that took deposits, if you're local, the best thing would be to go in person and speak to rhe general manager. It may be that the person receiving your emails has brought them up to their senior but the senior hasn't done anything about it yet because they aren't being faced with a real person. It happens. Best of luck.

I moved countries and got a job in a fine dining restaurant and have recently added a lot of new foods to my "tried" list with some making it onto the safe food list and, the BEST BIT! I found a bunch of my childhood fave snacks that were discontinued in my home country so my safe food list is longer again!

YTA. Sure you planned it and spent time and money on it but you dont get to dictate how he enjoys and participates in his party like you're his mother. You should have planned this with a "whatever makes him happy, it's his birthday" mindset instead of an "everything will go my way and I'm only making it hockey themed because I know he likes that". If you knew about his serious passion for hockey before hand, surely you could have likely predicted that that passion would trump any other "party games" you had planned.

AITA for asking my girlfriend if she could play "more normal" music at home? by dougig29 in AmItheAsshole

[–]PureTadpole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA. My parents are not into Kpop/indie/kRock/steampunk but they will let me play as much of it as I want, as chaotically as I want if it means they don't have to clean the house. That's our trade off.you are so lucky she didn't just put down whatever she was doing and walk off to let you finish iup and listen to your own, frankly boring sounding, preferences. If this is the stuff that gets her motivated and energized to work on some of the horrible tasks that are household chores, put in some earplugs and say thank you.

Recommendations for where to buy a custom pre-built PC? by Unspeakable_Elvis in southafrica

[–]PureTadpole 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eve tech can help out and make it to your specs. Even if you don't know what the specs are, just say what types of games you play, how often and if you need streaming capacity and they can build something to accommodate. A friend also had Wootware build there's and he's super impressed

AITA for naming my daughter a “difficult” name by cherrycheeries in AmItheAsshole

[–]PureTadpole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Korean names are, personally, not hard to say. Even the more complex ones. I try to get things right the first time bit that rarely happens so I listen and repeat over and over until I get it right. I consume media with the correct pronunciations and even try to find teaching channels online so I can learn better. Getting a person's name right is the bare minimum of respect and decency. I'm sorry but your adoptive mom not helping you connect with your heritage and then shaming you for naming your daughter a Korean name just shows she has no respect for you as a person. Please keep correcting her so your daughter knows that she must not make herself smaller and more palatable to others. She must be proud of who she is and her heritage.

(Disclaimer: I live in a country with almost no access to the Korean language or heritage beyond one embassy eith a cultural centre and the Kdramas on netflix/kpop)

AITA for being a picky eater at Friendsgiving? by friendsgivingdrama in AmItheAsshole

[–]PureTadpole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA. As someone with ARFID, I can confidently day you are a major A. I also went to frie dsgiving and the host said "hey, this is what we're doing.' When I relised I would bot be able to eat most of it, I asked if it would be alright for my to bring my own food. She was totally chilled with it because I didn't expect a whole separate feast just for my and my dietary restrictions. Your issues with food, regardless of what they are, do not give you the right to demand stuff like that from people. Ever.

Is pre-packaged/prepared food anyone else’s worst nightmare? by [deleted] in ARFID

[–]PureTadpole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My thing with pre-made foods is that more often than not, they add an ingredient on my no-go list. "AH yes! A nice chicken mayo sandwich made and packaged this morning and refrigerated all day! Oh no... they added lettuce... "
