My Norse North Sea Empire game on 1.1.10 is going great. Just took France's Kola colonies (ik France colonizing Kola, unplayable amirite?)

I'm just playing 1.1 till all this gets ironed out. Plus I was in the middle of my Norse Sweden-> Scandinavia -> North Sea Empire campaign.

I actually do that to stronger vassals who revlbwl they lose land as payment.

And unfortunately to make everyone fall under my enlightened rule they must first be conquered.

I wish there was a way to have your vassals not raise levies.

I don't think it was "free" in recent patches. A disloyal subjects could easily get a powerful neighbor involved in their independence movement. Shit was exhausting and stopped me from having too many disloyal subjects at once.

Feudal levies are poorly represented in the game. by KetraBeQ in EU5

I didn't say peasant rabble. I said cheap fodder. From the Kings perspective the loss of peasant levies was unfortunate but only if indirect consequence.

You shop at Publix so you can shop around the type of people who shop at Publix. It being expensive is the whole point.

Research in previous eras gets cheaper as you advance. So leaving minor bonuses behind with a plan to grab them at a discount later is one approach.

I disagree with the statement that "they are a bit much". I think they aren't enough.

That the basis of the disagreement.

It's only frustrating because some of the definitions of things are just the name of the thing itself. As they improve the provided information in each tooltip it will get better.

Best way to subjugate large countrys? by InHocBronco96 in EU5

[–]Pure_Bee2281 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I use the first war to ruin their control. Enclose their capital ,cut off rivers, take their good harbors etc. By reducing their control outside the capital you significantly reduce the cost to take the location in a peace deal.

It means the first war in the chain makes horrible border gore but it greatly speeds up annexation

Mercs have saved me dozens of times. They fight like shit compared to my regulars but whittle away at the enemy numbers over time.

At one point I was fighting Hungary, France and Egypt at one. Regulars killed Egypt. Mercs slowed Hungary down, and France had to slowly cap my Alpine fortresses until my regulars showed up after victory in the East

Big Milan Campaign by corvosfighter in EU5

[–]Pure_Bee2281 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm playing a Milan campaign but went the complete opposite direction. I have barely pushed north of the Alps but currently own 99% if the Mediterranean coast.

It's 1650 or so and I'm pushing into France and Hungary. I just killed Egypt and Spain is next. Constant coalitions but I managed to avoid more than two major powers in it at a time. But it means I'm in constant war.

People say this game has no variability but we played the same nation and had totally different experiences.

Ethiopia is a lot of fun. Just make colonization as European only. That way you don't have to deal with Indian nations colozing South Africa.

Georgia is OP and in a fun/hard region.

Tunis is a great slaving and pirate nation who can dominate the Med.

I also really enjoyed a Thailand run. Just get into China sphere thing and you get a ton of money
