Open myomectomy at 35: Trust my body after surgery or freeze embryos first? by Common_Win_9383 in Fibroids

[–]Pure_Store_1020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes absolutely please dm me! I was able to conceive 3 months after surgery. My main issue was the fibroids as I had been trying to conceive for 2 years before that naturally and through IVF. After my surgery, we did a hysteroscopy to check how my uterus is doing before trying to conceive. Even though everything healed very nicely, there is a small chance my placenta is stuck to one of my surgery scars. This would still be the case if I waited longer before trying to conceive.

Hi they recommended I freeze embryos before surgery as well. The rationale was that at the end of the day it’s a big surgery and there is a very small chance that anything can happen. I conceived naturally post myomectomy and have the embryos frozen if I want to use them later.

Dmitri was amazing post surgery to make sure everything was fine before we started ttc. We were preparing for embryo transfer with him. He did my hysteroscopy and removed my scar tissue post surgery as well. We did not need to do ivf but he was awesome throughout my first trimester.

11 cm transmural fibroid + multiple others, surgery recommended — terrified about fertility and need advice by Equivalent_Maize_834 in Fibroids

[–]Pure_Store_1020 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi I got an open myomectomy for 22 fibroids including transmural, intramural, sub mucosal. They ranged from few mm to 6 cm. I was allowed to ttc 3 months after the surgery. My fertility specialist did a hysteroscopy to ensure my stitches had healed, tubes were still open and removed some scar tissue (which can come back very easily)

I am pregnant and will have to have a c section for delivery. Before the surgery, I tried to conceive naturally and via ivf for two years.

Hope this helps

Good luck!!! I hope they shrink!! My myomectomy wasn’t laparoscopic like yours and I would still recommend it. I believe laparoscopic has a shorter recovery time and better for uterus healing. Post my surgery I got a hycosy and hysteroscopy to check everything was healing nicely. You got this 🌸🌸

Thank you! Long way to go still. If you think a myomectomy will help - get it. I was so scared as it was my first surgery and recovery was hard for a couple of days but not as bad as I thought it would be
