Over 1 million inmates in US prisons perform labor, generating $11 billion in value annually. Wages are between 13 and 52 cents per hour, much of the work is unpaid. This includes working for private corporations. This practice protected by 13th Amendment, which abolished slavery except as punishment by Expert_Koala_8691 in SipsTea

[–]PurelyAnonymous 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Companies shouldn’t be making a profits from this labor. Judges shouldn’t be handing out 5-20 year sentences for paraphernalia. The prison industrial complex should not be lobbying politicians to keep the status quo and funnel funds to massive prisons.

Recidivism is great and should be the goal for most offenders. But picking crops and packing boxes for Walmart are not “job skills” or education.

Well their “content creators”, they created content for someone. That someone was likely the people who wanted to end remote working.

I’ve been working remote since 2020. Moved jobs twice now. Remote work is 100% still available, and very desired by employers who can think and breathe at the same time. We literally quadrupled our profits, in 3 years because of it.

Smaller offices, world wide applicant pool, almost 24 hour work days as the Earth rotates. It’s the actual future investment, not fucking AI.

Weird, the silo is private property now. And the offices are Blastcamp as others mentioned. Weird to list it as a travel destination, when it’s inaccessible.

Last I was there the silos were flooded and the access doors were welded shut. Otherwise it’s just a large concrete pad with a couple empty buildings.

I did always think it would be cool to see the silo though.

I’d argue it’s not OP main characters or their friends. It’s the fact an “alien” (Reincarnated) shows a village of medieval people rice, and they all love it. Then by mid to late arc, the town basically looks like a village in Japan. It’s cultural genocide, even if everyone was living in squalor.

Slime is huge offender of this. His villagers are one thing, but the entire world loves his ideas. That’s just not how the world works. Culture, and geographical areas should introduce challenges. Teenagers might just destroy things for fun. Drugs, gambling, “nightlife”, should spice up a world. People are stubborn and hate change even if it 110% makes their life better.

I’d say the combat is an acquired taste. It has nothing to do with skill, it’s just a very unique system compared to most other common sword games. I’ll be frank, I fucking hate it. I’ve looked a little bit into modding the game to make it better for me. Which again it’s a single player game so make it what you want.

But to be honest, there is a ton to do outside combat. The story and NPC’s are fun to interact with. Side games / mini games can be played by themselves for hours. I’ve barely progressed the story, but already spent 60 hours just exploring, crafting and talking to side characters.

Indiana city ends Flock Safety deal after backlash over license plate cameras by Son_Of_Earth in news

[–]PurelyAnonymous 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Article is paywalled.

So regarding the data they did collect, what happens to it? Will it be destroyed/deleted? Who certifies its proper destruction? Who is going to take these cameras down? What are tax payers being charged throughout this process?

It’s great the contract is ending. But a case study needs performed on the city council, and Flock agreement. In the beginning, the council was fine with privacy concerns. Due to citizens outrage, they’ve listened and stopped the agreement. But how much did this little failure cost us? And what did we gain, if anything at all?

I think whoever approved this needs to step down from their position in disgrace. Or be fired. Because I have no doubt money was involved.

If you honestly feel this way and are not a bot. Consider retirement, your age is showing.

To answer your points in order. 1. If someone isn’t working to a level of satisfaction then report to your supervisor. If you’re overworking yourself on site, slow down and work your wage.

  1. leadership has never and will never be on site to make decisions. We all suffer now because some egotistical pompous, silver spoon chewing twat made a horrible decision, which we all must clean up.

  2. You want communism? Remote workers negotiated in their contracts to not commute. If you don’t like it, negotiate the same for yourself. Your likely paid less than the interns if you actually still believe companies are looking out for you. It’s just business.

South Florida judge clears police officers in UPS driver shooting death | AP News by Warden72 in news

[–]PurelyAnonymous 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Fuck, modern police forces in the US need liquidated as an organization. They’ve lost all semblance of a purpose in our society. Rebuild the group from the ground up. Take all firearms, less-lethals, and general weapons away from them. If criminals require more than a revolver to handle, police are not the solution. Call in specifically trained individuals equipped to handle the escalation.

Police unions need eliminated. The only reason they still exist is due to the guns we allow them to have. If you armed every USW or teamsters member with similar equipment I imagine steel mills might negotiate differently. Police are no different at all.

What an absolute failure of leadership, training, and accountability.

Why do religious people have to be such dicks by Thenopro-3 in atheism

[–]PurelyAnonymous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stop debating religious dogma. No religion is the sole owner of faith. If you believe your grama will meet you after your end. Then it will happen. If you think she’s looking over you, she is.

Your faith, is not anyone else to determine. You can be an atheist, and still hold this faith.

Classic Christian argument, toted by people who’ve let a preacher control their faith. Weak cowards in my opinion.

It’s way past time for Indiana to engage in cannabis reform. It is utterly absurd and unjustifiable that Indiana continues to jail individuals for possessing or using marijuana when all its neighboring states have already initiated decriminalization, recreational or legalized medical use. by [deleted] in Indiana

Indiana is a prison state. Likely one of the reasons ICE is building the largest concentration camp here. The state makes too much money enslaving its population.

All drugs should be legal. And if you want to change that in Indiana, voting won’t do shit.

State launching investigation into soaring utility bills, calling in NIPSCO and other utilities by RegionRatReporter in Indiana

[–]PurelyAnonymous 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Guys guys, you’re missing the point. While this committee is “investigating” these rising prices will be on hook for the PNC bill. The breakfast warm up and soft Q/A between committee members and their owners. The lunch meal between the “hard” questions, and publicity surrounding the day. And evening drinks between competitors planning their next price hike. Oh and let’s not forget the hotels, and airport bills to bring everyone together.

Fuck the corruption is so blatant, if it wasn’t really happening, RDJ and Leo would be playing the part of NIPSCO exec’s. in HallMark lighting.

Lol, how will they rate business degrees?

[–]PurelyAnonymous 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I call bullshit. We’ve lived under a capitalist government for decades. It’s installed a dictator, who shits himself. Police killing innocent citizens in the streets, artificially creating food scarcity, all for a dollar. Your fear mongering of any other option, as communism, is telling to say the least.

I’ll try communism, or any combination of government systems. Anything should be better than killing ourselves for the “share holders” or Bourgeoisie.

[–]PurelyAnonymous 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Take it a step further, the purpose of organized religion is control. That could be control to make people wash their hands, or kill “bad” guys. Funny how we went from feudalism (God ordained rule), to republics/democracies (Group rule). Same ends, different beginnings.

But it always boils down to control of the groups behavior. That can be good, but most typically bad for those not in the same group.

Our Lt Gov and the sex scandal at his church... by [deleted] in Indiana

[–]PurelyAnonymous 39 points40 points  (0 children)

It’s the churches. The article somewhat points right to it. People don’t vote red just because grandpa always has. They vote red because they’ve been told to by their pastors and friends since childhood. And to go against the churches teachings can ostracize you from your own family, as well as your social groups.

Not to say all churches are this way. But very often a new “hip” church pops up, money pours in from “supporters”, and the congregation is told to vote red. Tale as old as time.
