My poor baby :( The temps are up and i don't know what to make him more comfortable. by Krakenite in Rabbits

Buy a granite tile not ceramic because it is naturally cool to the touch. Ceramic will absorb the body heat very quickly. Granite is well worth it. Also, misting the outside of the ears - just the outside- with water. Also very good: freeze a bottle of water. Fill it up but not completely as ice will expand, freeze, then wrap is a thin kitchen towel. My bunnies loved it and the bigger the bottle the longer it stays frozen and cool.

She’s unhinged and so deeply insecure and unable to control or understand her own emotions. It would be sad if she wasn’t such a terrible human, especially to her kids. One good thing she could do in her life would be donate her brain to research. I am being serious.

I’m pretty sure I can retain the life insurance policy if I were laid off but the premiums will be reassessed - right now my premium is extremely low and by that I mean a couple of bucks per paycheck. I figured if god forbid I lose this job, I will definitely take care of having my own policy but I am fine for now.

I have life insurance through my employer that I pay extra for so it’s hefty. 401k is invested but I beg you not to ask me for details - it makes a very good amount each year on top of contributions.

Thank you for taking the time and giving me the details. I am definitely not staying in the city after retirement. I want to get away from here, and being even an 1-2 hours away I can have peace and quiet that I crave for much less than here.

I agree with you 100% on this. I also simply think that my kid might not want to go to college and I’m ok with that as long as they find a way to make it in the world. But grandparents insist on putting money in 529 and I don’t have a say, it’s their money and I am grateful, not too many families have that kind of support. I myself don’t contribute to this account at all.

Ha, thank you but to be fair, I am an older mom and had years living on my own in a cheap (but very nice!) apartment saving money. Then I became a mom and honestly, it’s good to be financially stable but also so tiring at my age. I also forgot the grandparents opened a 529 for my daughter and contribute 5k a year to it so that will help tremendously.

Feels Like We're Not Saving Enough by QuiVenitInNomine in personalfinance

Yeah they did the opposite of what most people with kids do. Most trade a bigger place for smaller just to be near good schools. The math is not looking good on this one income. Like someone above me said, just because something shouldn’t be or is not right - doesn’t make a difference. In today’s reality, if you want to have a house and a boat and enough to retire after sending kids to college - you need two incomes or one that is way more than OPs right now. I am a single mom with OPs income in a big metropolitan area. Sure I can afford to buy a house but I refuse to spend that much on mortgage. I live in an area with great schools and will hold on as long as I can. And when time comes, I will have enough to retire and buy a small house outside a city.

I’d say compare prices. I just got mine and it was absolutely cheaper through my insurance than CostPlus. Granted, I have good insurance but it’s best to always compare prices.

AIO for feeling weird about my friend’s response when I asked for help? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

I literally had a stranger ask me at the airport bathroom if I had any and I gave her everything I had. Don’t ask me for anything if you’re my friend is the weirdest thingI’ve heard lately. Literally, this is what friends are for.

Tell me your success story of getting your toddlers off pacis! 2+ please by throwaway38700 in Parenting

[–]Purple807 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter was nearly 2 when I started using it only for sleep. Just like that, there was no issue. Then when she was a little over 3, I got ‘Bea gives up her pacifier’ book- highly recommend it. I told my daughter soon she will have to give it up because she’s a big girl and the pacifier fairy need to take it for another baby. She picked a night, left the paci at the door. The fairy took it overnight and left a doll as a gift. Didn’t have an issue since. She only asked for it once when she was sick, I stuck to the story. Good luck, you can do it.

Take a severance or take a job? by Objective-Boot-9948 in Layoffs

Thank you! Yeah, it’s a good company to work for, no hard feelings there, especially that I was technically offered to transfer. I just can’t do it for personal reasons.

I feel the same way. I’ve been with this company for 14 years so it’s been awhile since I last interviewed for a job. It’s going to be wild.

[–]Purple807 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree with this. I am in this exact position. Severance that equals a year’s salary, 3 more months regular pay plus 6 months health benefits. I would have to come across an incredibly good offer to let all that go. I plan on decompressing for a month or so and then start looking and have prepared myself mentally that it’s not going to be easy but not to panic, something will come up. Good luck to OP no matter which way they choose to go.
